This is such a flawed argument. The reason why Zaha would be on big wages is because he is top class now. The reason Sarr is not going to be on massive wages is because he is miles away from Zaha in quality.

This sort of thinking led to us signing bergwijn, lo celso and ndombele.

Is the player good enough now, would be my question. I can understand from a squad building process to make sure you don't fill your squad with old players, but I'd be much more focused on talent than age.
I don't think Zaha is top-class now, and he would be coming in as a back-up - 5th choice attacking player behind Kane, Son, Kulusevski and Richarlison. That is not the position to be paying over the top wages to.

Add his age to that, and it becomes more likely he will fall to Sarr's level sooner rather than later. So why pay more to get that level of production?

I agree with the general proposition that you want to have players who are capable now - and if we were buying a player to come into the XI, I would choose experience over potential - but even then, I would be looking at the 27-28 yo range.

Totally understand this and would agree that, if we wanted zaha then we should have gone for him seriously two years ago.
That said, he is levels above Sarr so to fall to Sarrs level will take some doing
As I said before, I see Traore as a better rwf than Sarr but would go:
zaha>Traore >Sarr

Another cheapo deal, middle of the road player, very inconsistent, looks no where near good enough for a team aspiring for top 4.

We talk about backing Conte but all the apparent targets for the WF role are not good enough. Sarr etc are so obviously club signings.

Upgrades/legit competition for places. It’s what we need. I don’t see Sarr as a particular threat to Kulu. Kudus, on the other hand…

Yep you do hope our scouting is working hard because Zaha, Traore and Sarr feel Soft and lazy options.

A few years ago, he looked like he could be a really top player but it's just not really happened. That said, if we continue playing as we are now, his Championship experience could be invaluable.

He’s the type of player we need but not sure he’s the answer.
From what I’ve seen we lack real pace in our side and a player who can at players with pace and direct dribbling. Kulu can do it but not with pace.
Every top side has pace in abundance

Not so sure for me. He'll be 31 next season, to go with Son who will be 31, and Kane 30.

I assume he'll be looking for a multi-year deal, on big wages.

Too much risk for drop-off, in addition to general risks associated with Zaha - not sure his head is always in the game.
Yep. 5 years ago was the time to sign him

Dream world but players like Rafael Leao should be targetted.

These are players who are producing, the right age and are close to becoming next level.

Liverpool have done this with Diaz, Gakpo and Jota

He's decent with potential but not the style of player we need as an option for Kulu.

Another player that we would only stifle their development as they sit on the bench. I don’t think Sarr has demonstrated he’s at hit levels needed yet to be a consistent player in a top 6 side. As Conte has indicated, we can sign young players, but they need to be ready to compete for a spot. Problem is these players cost often cost more than experienced pros in their peak years

Please watch him now v Norwich if you can.

I'm unable to but don't get me wrong I like him a lot, thought he had a good World Cup.

It's just that I see him more as an option to Sonny than Kulu and we already have Richy for that.

Kudus of Ajax is a good option as well.

Kudus is such a better player than Sarr. Would be happy to have him and would fit the ‘policy’ as well.
