Harry Winks finally made his debut for Sampdoria on Monday night as a substitute during a 1-0 defeat to Empoli, with the Tottenham man finally ridding himself of an injury nightmare – and Italian media have applauded the England ace.

Winks, 26, has been on the sidelines at Sampdoria ever since joining the club on a season-long loan from Spurs. But he was on the bench last week in a defeat to League leaders Napoli. On Monday, he came off the bench on 62 minutes.

I watched the game last night as I had a bet on Empoli. Yes it's great to see him back playing, and yes he will make a difference to a very poor Sampdoria side, the league table doesn't lie, they are a poor side with very little attacking threat. They had a good last 15 mins inc. time added on, partly because Empoli were down to ten men through injury. For his own mental well-being let's hope he stays injury free and gets properly match fit. 7 points adrift from safety and scored EIGHT goals in 18 games, Samp need a striker to survive.
