I wonder how much Levy and Co use potential ITKs, or even internet message boards and other media outlets to create smoke-screens for their real transfer targets.

I've often thought that if I were in Levy's position, it may (or sometimes not) be useful to plaster the media, including the internet, with all sorts of credible, or otherwise, stories about who Spurs were going to sign.

Would the club even go as far as to enter into negotiations with players, knowing full well that they weren't going to sign that particular player, but were looking at another player at the same club (possibly Eto/Dos Santos affair)?

Who knows?

Just thought I'd start some good ol' ITK discussion with you ladies and gents.

I theorised something similar yesterday, to recap I think that they must be aware of 'ITKs' and the effect forums have on the fanbase and thus keep the ITKs at arms length. Don't think they would feed false info particularly although if it suited a need (i.e. to divert attention from an actual target per say) they I could see them dropping a few red herrings to the correct channels.

They must know about ITK on forums, an particularly how that seems to then make its way into some of the red tops.

Given the incredible amounts of money involved in player transfers, as well as the massive potential impact these can have on a team, i'm sure that Levy and co. are fairly wired into the more popular forums. Whether they leak misleading info is a tricky one to guess though....

They all do. The Missus was contraced to undertake aspects of Blackburn's marketing work and they certainly routinely monitored relevant boards and would even post on them in offical and unoffical capacity.

So i take it that all the Anton Ferdinand bashing led to the club denying the reports? After reading all the negative comments about Anton possibly coming to Spurs, they thought they better set the record straight.

I do wonder though if the club every check the site to get the views of the fans regarding certain players we're insterested in. As well as our opinions on who we should sell. Maybe if we all agree on who our defensive midfielder should be, then they will pull out all the stops to sign them.

Don't suppose she's got any idea on the Bentley thing from Blackburn's perspective?

 - sorry, didn't read that.

I'm not totally familiar with the ins and outs of a transfer deal (I doubt many on SpursCommunity are) so I don't know how much, if at all, disinformation would help complete a deal.

As far as scouting players goes, I would imagine Spurs have literally hundreds of scouts, freelance or otherwise, working for them. In fact, lazy journos aside, that's probably the reason we get linked to so many players. However, just because you scout a player, doesn't mean you think he'd be good for your club. It's only after all the scouting report is completed, do Levy, Junade, Gus and Damo sit down and discuss who's hot, and who's not.

By having so many scouts in 'the field' at anyone time inadvertibly creates a smokescreen for the club, even though the club is more interested in finding good players than spreading disinformation.

Good stuff General.

How many 'web-surfers' does Blackburn employ?

I have vision of a busy command-centre, 1 mile below the ground, in an Area-51 style bunker.

Shame Blackburn are still shit

They cant monitor it that closely. Unless they hire someone to do purely that, which would be a pretty cushdy job. If you're reading this THFC staff, PM me for a copy of my CV!

I doubt it's a full time job but apart from keep an eye on ITK's a company should always know its customer. Look how quickly the Berba photo was added to the training pic yesterday.

I wondered about that at the time. If you are watching, hi Spurs! so do you know who they are registered under or just that they do.

I'm not sure if I can disclose such information

Even if I knew it.

1 hour until I finish. Is there any ITK, or even better a signing, before 4pm?

Or another 2am announcement from Spurs Mobile. :x

I reckon I could deduce it over on COYS, but not so much here.
