Not if you consider that part of the thinking was that he may have been signed partly as insurance against Berbatov's flopping. Of course Berba turned out to be far better than anyone on SC expected, not so much in the goalscoring department (in which he hasn't, to be honest, truly excelled), but in the rest of the stuff he's brought to the party—which has, I believe, come as a bonus. We also made a tidy little profit on Mido.

And come on, Rup, if that shot in the last knockings against the Scum at the Death Star had been just a foot to the left, you'd have been all for voting him the freedom of Tottenham.

My guess is that we're playing our cards very close to our chests indeed, and that a lot of the 'targets' we've seen named in the media aren't targets at all.

I'd say the only certainty is that last summer's disastrous 'ones for the future' policy is out of the window. We will be looking for players who will make an instant impact. Also, we'll be trying to sign any potential stand-outs in Euro 2008 before the tournament actually begins, and prices go totally Gibbsy.

I would agree with that - Modric was a bolt out of the blue and I am sure that he will not be the last this summer!
