If he wasn't good enough at Chelsea for us to remember his performances, I can't imagine him developing so much between now and then so that he is the dominant midfield man we are after.

I disagree, he was a strong squad player and did very well there. In fact he was starting a good number of games and in a side like Chealsea who actively compete in all competitions (which is why I have an inkling more respect for them than those disrspectful bastards of manu arse and liverpool).

Mourinho never wanted to let him go, but it was the only way to get Essien, and lets face it, Essien is a monster of a player, the type who we can only dream of having!

yes but if you tell the goat it can remain a secret, only one extra person or so knowing. And Im sure they will not tell anyone about the source. plus if you would get killed by them knowing your source. Does that mean that the secret you were supposed to keep was also the deal going on

Just from what I've seen of him at Benfica, Chelsea, Lyon and the two or three times I've seen him at Juve, and the reports that come from people about his performances, I'm not convinced.

In Chelsea's system its hard not to look good as a central midfielder. Lampard was scoring the goals, Makelele was covering the defence, all he had to do was make sure he didnt mess up.

At Lyon and Juve, where more responsibility was put on his shoulders, he has been shown up. I think in our system, with the players we have, he would be found out again. Put him with any of our midfielders we have right now and I think we will still have the same problems. He wont lead the midfield, he wont inspire the others, he's not creative enough or good enough defensively.

I'd rather have Jenas and 9 mill and then go and buy a strong midfield general than get Tiago.

He is the sort of signing we have made recently that, while no doubt a good player, not giving us what we desperately need, and ultimately being a waste of money.

It was really only a matter of time until the Tiago link reappeared.
I thought that he looked a good player at Chelsea and on those performances,he would definitely be an improvement on our midfield options.
I have not seen any of his games in Italy but he would'nt be the first player to be bad in Italy but very good in England!
At £9 million he represents far less of a gamble than the £8.5 million we spent on Kaboul last year!My only worry is that he seems to move around quite a bit - Benfica - Chelsea - Lyon - Juventus and the only place he has'nt visited is Spain,so by that reckoning he will probably end up there.

It's not at all the same situation as with Hutton. It was suggested at the time that Tiago and his agent were buggering us about trying to play us off against Atleti, and succeeded in massively pissing off all three clubs.

To be fair SS, the closure of this thread will hardly have the SC masses up in arms. I really think that it's time the transfer rumours thread opened again, it's just boring sifting through this stuff anyway and it should be placed in another part of the forum.

You mods should be a bit more proactive and try and evolve the site away from the trash bin it will surely become with all these rumours/"facts".
