Now im going to raise two points here. Why is it that we seem to have extremely bad luck against 30 yard screamers? I mean seriously, every time I see an opposing player winding up to shoot from a ridiculous range i hold my breath. Is it an in-ability to close down players quickly or is it a simple case of bad luck? A lot of people were moaning a while back at Robinson's positional sence but to be totally fair to Robbo he could do nothing with 90% of the magnificent strikes hes faced during this season.

Another point I want to raise is why we NEVER or very, very rarely score from outside the box. Its not a case of simply missing the target because for that to happen we'd actually have to have a pop at goal. But it seems like we have the scum syndrome.... Every time we get the ball in and around with 20-30 yard range we always try to pass it through or dink it over. I dont know why we dont try and test the keeper more often. On occasions the clever little dink does work (Hudds a master at this type of pass) but we simply seem to be scared to have a go! Look at jenas last season v arsenal....It saved us a point so why dont some players take a gamble once in a while and give it some welly?!

Im just sick of tasting defeat at the hands of a rasping pile driver...In some ways id rather see us tactically outdone at least that way it would be "fair". So id just like to see Hudd, Jenas, Malb have a go more often so i can for once taste the sweet, sweet taste of an underserved victory due to a moment of individual excellence!

I know its so annoying the amout of screamers against us. It could of been prevented today though, very poor defending.

As for players taking long shots on our team, yea why not.. just please can every one shut up when the ball falls to Zoko when he's at the edge of the box. Dont shout shoot. He can't shoot, he will never score from there.

Gus is after coming out after the game and sayin "we need to do a bit of defending"...a bit..all we need to practice is our defending...!!! if we shut everything out they wont score wonder goals.

today if you wanna play the blame game for that screamer you have to blame Berbatov, he just didnt get rid of it. It was a mistake and that happens, if he had skied it we wouldnt have noticed.

However we dont often block properly or close down players around the box. and that is often the case for the many screamers we let in.

We score plenty of goals so i have no problems with what we do at that end of the pitch. just cant wait til a few players come back from injury to sort the defence out

It is a case of lack of closing down. Our defence seems to have this mentality of 'go on, have a go'.

Everyone knows that when the attacker is 20 yards out you don't given him time to compose himself and take aim. If the defence and midfield closed down more often then the majority of long range efforts that have gone in against us would have been either blocked or gone wide.

Sorry mate cant help but thinking Ledly king (which is who your obviously tlaking about) is going to perform miricles. I think a lot of are problems are tactical... and im not blaming ramos, i just think our back 4 needs a kick up the arse and long hard look at some vidoes. They need sorting out... although thats no secret...

Lol, goldman, I think it's ironic, at least I hope so, Dids should never take a shot unless it's from 6 yards out, dead centre and there's no one on the line.

We conceed a lot of screamers, a lot of it is just bad luck but part of it is players feel they can do that against us so they're more likely to try. There's quite a bit of bad defending in front of the back 4. It's part of a wider positioning problem, we don't mark players who are off the ball so by the time they get it we're scrambling to cover. We also stand so far off players all over the pitch they get room to pass and in the end they just cut right through like we're not there

No i mean rocha or even garnder as well. Dawson is in awful form and no doubt can be great and has in the past but he needs to be rested but instead we have no other options so he has to play. kaboul has also lost all confidence, he is struggling with the premiership and needs more time. but again we have no choices and so we cant choose to play him bit by bit but instead he has been chucked in at the deep end

Mind you saying that you said the squad and he certainley does that often enough, why else do you think Jamie Carragher retired from international football.

Lo and behold, we have a long shot that Robbo didn't have a prayer with. I'll give him this one.

Agree we are poor at closing down outside the box. I think, because none of our players even try that in training our defenders and midfielders are not trained to deal with it. Unfortunately we do currently like little dinks around the opposition box and Ramos needs to train that predictable habit out of the players.

All I am wishing for for xmas is Spurs keeping clean sheets in games. Do not give a toss if we only score one or two a game from now on, just stop the leaks at the back. Oppostion strikers must be so looking forward to playing us that they circle it on the calender!

Its definately a lack of pressure on the ball that alllows these players to pick their spot. If you give players time they will produce quality.

I think there is a lack of organisation - look at Brum's second goal, half arsed challenges, no one really getting to him, its like they want him to shot so we can get the ball back, either from Robbo or with a kick off!

Our defence was fucking horseshit even when Ledley was playing last year
