But are we too simple ?

We have all seen the benefits of Redknapp's simplistic approach. It can deliver great attacking football. When it works, it can look good. But I honestly don't think it is enough, and I don't believe that our best football has been any better than the best of some others - particularly ManC and Arsenal. I think the media have latched onto us a little because we are the underdog of the 5 top teams and because we are managed by the affable Redknapp with his simplistic chirpy persona.

We need to start doing some of the simple things better than we do.

We need to start working a fuck of a lot harder on how to defend as a coherent unit and individuals must be taught how to operate better within the collective framework of a team structure. They must be taught to take responsibility for what they do on the pitch and how it impacts the team.

I'm not talking Mourinho-esque drilling here. I'm talking basic, fundamental organisation. A bit of discipline to compliment the liberty.

It's a simple game, but at times, we are too simple.

I think it's about striking the right balance between players being given the freedom to play on their intincts and instilling a work ethic that everyone adheres too.

Some managers go too far one way or the other.

It's will be difficult for Redknapp to instill a work ethic without restricting some players attacking freedom. The truth is it comes down to stamina. Players like Bale are using more of their energy attacking that is why we have become so good to watch. If he used some of that energy to track back and defend then we might not be such a force going forward.

Physical conditioning is definitely part of it. I honestly don't buy that excuse for Bale one little bit. He's not doing that much offensively that he couldn't be a bit more diligent defensively. It's not just Bale either. Last week the biggest problem was that neither striker closed or pressed down with any conviction. It made a suspect formation (i.e. already outnumbered midfield) all the more vulnerable.

I think we all know that Harry offers very little, if any, real tactical approach to the game, he's pretty much admitted this himself.

But what gets largely under-estimated is how motivating players is probably more important than tactics overall in a game.

Watch England, can't do fuck all on the pitch of note under the tactical guidance of Capello, despite them being talented players. The look at Greece when they won the Euro's - not a single player of any note in their team but they win it non the less.

What this means is that Spurs under Harry have the potential to be out tactic'd by a team once in a while.

But for me i think we leave it the way it is under Harry, as for the majority it works really well.

Although some basic practicing of corners wouldn't be a bad thing!
