Such a shame that it must always take an enormous calamity (more often a series of them) for any England manager to be sacked, regardless of their obvious mediocrity. It is rather difficult to fail so spectacularly with this historically strong generation of talent though so I could quite easily see Gareth remaining in charge for another 6/7 years as we fall short at quarter final after quarter final - just the same as we wasted our last high quality generation with 8 years of Sven.

I'd love to see someone like a Potter with this group, but the FA don't think that way. They'd more likely appoint Phil Neville.
