Maybe not the pen but Kane was completely missing for 110 minutes. He is by far England’s best player & its captain. That kind of performance in a final is not anywhere close to being acceptable. Its not his fault you lost, it’s Southgates. But for me, a very jaded Spurs fan when it comes to Kane, the performance was just par for the course in finals with him.

The question is, if Kane is world class, what is world class? International level and a very good one definitely but World Class. Mind you Messi has just won his first big tournament.

No, you can’t force someone to take a penalty… but going on international caps, Sterling is the most senior player in that team. Under absolutely no circumstances should Saka be taking a penalty ahead of Sterling.

Especially when hes never taken a professional pen in his career. Sterling isnt great from the spot buts he has taken pens before.

Bar Germany, I’m quite convinced England could’ve thrashed every team they’ve faced this tournament had Southgate had a less pragmatic, more Mancini-esque approach and trusted the attacking ability of his players. If we’re honest, a combined 11 of the two teams today would’ve starred far more English players than Italian ones, yet England was defending deeper until 1-1 than Denmark were when they faced England.

As soon as Grealish comes on and England starts attacking, there are very few teams in this tournament that look more deadly.

Sterling should be totally and utterly ashamed of himself. The guy who talks about Wembley and all that shit can’t stand up and be counted as a man in a final for his country.

He was dreadful from start to finish, and should have come off way way way before even extra time. The whole ass licking thing with Sterling does my head in, and he resorted back to his 2 goals in 47 England game form.

I feel for Saka and Sancho who had to step up in his absence because he simply wasn’t man enough to take a penalty. Thing is, if he took it and missed I would be fine with it, just like I am with Rashford, Sancho and Saka. Penalties are a lottery and they were brave enough.

Ahhhh the sterling can do no wrong police are in full force tonight. Lots of disagrees which is fine but id like to know if those that disagree think that Sterling played well…..

I thought the ref tonight was nothing short of abysmal. I can't blame him completely for England's failures, but he certainly didn't help with some of those disgraceful decisions.

I hate to say it, but Southgate's tactics in that second half we are bloody shambles too. We came out in that second half and tried to defend a one goal lead. Of COURSE they're going to keep coming at us. Of COURSE they're going to close us down all over the pitch with a high press.

Tonight, football tried to come home but the door was locked and now it's gone away again.
.

the ref was fine.

Interesting juxtaposition between Spurs and England. I was devastated for weeks after the Champions League final as Liverpool were there for the taking that night and we just didn’t really turn up.

Similarly tonight I felt Italy were there for the taking and we just sat deeper and deeper until we inevitably conceded. Difference is I will get over it a lot quicker.

Spurs first all other teams and sports are a distant second.

Frustrates the life out of me.
He has his benefits but this England team could be so much better with Grealish on the left and Sancho/Foden on the right.

Sterling doesn't allow you to construct effectively in attack as everything he does is instinctive. He even fools his teammates as he doenst pass to them to keep the ball moving. Grealish can dribble past players AND offers much more creatively and end product.

He has to be starting from now on.
