The coverage was dire, but for me the worst thing was that the 'MK Dons v Burnley' and 'Portsmouth v Coventry' games were not only shown ahead of ours but also given more time.

I was outraged.

Mind you they do that on the Football league show on BBC after MOTD too, really annoying.
This is true. But then the Football League Show isn't known for it's production values either, even if it is on the Beeb. They both demonstrate how not to do it when it comes to football highlights.

Just sent this to their customer services department:

"
Good afternoon

I would just like to complain about the FA Cup highlights coverage that was on last night. The analysis of games was poor, but that can’t be helped when you have Robbie Earle and Andy Townsend commenting and only being given 10 seconds to make any comments. As a Spurs fan, I was expecting the highest ranked team in the competition that day to have featured prominently, especially as the game was a 4-0 thrashing with tons of chances. I’m sure Manchester United or Arsenal would not be at the end of the show after winning 4-0. I was at the game and wanted to see the two chances that hit the crossbar, the disallowed goal and the two penalty claims. This was not a highlights show, you just showed goals, not even in replays. The FA Cup is a prestigious competition in this country and it needs to be treated better.

Regards

Grant"

Loved how they showed a feature game then showed all the same clips again with the two idiots just saying what was on the screen. Sky plussed the hour and half show and got through it in about 25 mins.

The problem is we did exactly what ITV didn't want us to do. They wanted us to fuck up like Utd. If we had scraped a 1-1 or even lost you would have seen us open the show and at least 30 min highlights.

To be honest I switched off as soon as they started showing the Liverpool game, what useless excuse for a highlights show starts with the game that the same channel showed live a few hours earlier?? Especially when it was shite.

Ron Burgundy was far more entertaining on BBC1.

I just sent this to them, because it fu*&ing pissed me off!

"I wish to register a complaint over the quality of your FA Cup highlights programme last night.

As a Tottenham fan, unable to go to the game, I was looking forward to taking in the highlights later that evening, only to find that the featured games were the games that had already been screened live, plus the Pompey game. The highlights of Tottenham's game with Peterbrough were laughably short, with no replays of the goals, no highlights of the supposedly magnificent saves made by Joe Lewis (in my mind an insult to what I hear was a tremendous performance from the POSH keeper), and no clip of Defoe's bad miss... what you offered was what I would expect to see on a local news round-up.

Now, I do understand the way that advertising revenue works, and that if you feature the Premier League's 'big four', you will earn yourself more cash. In that respect, I can see why you have chosen Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal's games for live coverage this weekend. Whilst I don't agree with this, I can at least understand why you have done it (you very rarely do anything with the fan in mind, like the BBC attempt to do with Match Of The Day).

However, showing 30 seconds highlights on Saturday night of a game that attacted a capacity crowd, and involving the highest placed Premier League team on offer that day, is an insult to your audience, and only further tarnishes the horrendous reputatuion that your channel has amongst football supporters.

I imagine that I am not alone in making this complaint.

Yours,

Eddie, an angry Spurs fan."

ITV can't do football coverage. Never have and never will. Without doubt the worst channel on the box for it. The only time they come close is when its on ITV 3 or 4 and they are able to schedule the time that football coverage deserves. And how can they not offer HD FFS?!

'Ello, I wish to register a complaint.

I wish to complain about the FA cup highlights that I watched not more than 2 days ago on your very own channel.

I expect you to be thinking of the FA Cup 3rd round ITV Highlights aired on 2nd January 2010 and wondering what's wrong with it?

I'll tell you what's wrong with it. It was terrible, that's what's wrong with it!

I know a dead programme when I see one, and I was watching one that evening.

You featured the boring 0-0 draw between Liverpool and a team that play in Norwegian Blue, Reading. Now whilst I admire the beautiful plumage both teams adorn, I along with many others had already seen this game shown in its entirety, live earlier that day!

Now I hope I am not rattling the cage too hard now, as I don't wish to wake the ITV Directors who are obviously sleeping whist its management put on such a poor show for the glorious FA Cup.

Testing! Testing! Testing! Testing! This is your wake up call!

STUNNED?!? Well you had better be. The show was shocking.

It was like watching many local TV news clips stitched together by a team who are obviously pining for the fjords instead of concentrating on putting together a great show for the fans of football.

Well, maybe I have nailed it there! We the fans are pining!

YES pining! For decent commentators and studio commentators. Not have beens that have ceased to be. Not for opinions that are stiff and bereft of life.

I was so frustrated with such a poor programme that I actually went into the kitchen and there kicked the bucket that contained my mop.

One many years ago ITV football was a good. Now the coverage is so bad IT IS AN EX-PROGRAMME!!

Please replace it. Maybe a picture of a dead parrot will suffice.

They didn't show highlights, they just showed the goals. It was a joke.
