Will be interested to see what on of our ITK's views are on this - we must have decided to end negotiations, surely their owners wouldn't say something as definitive as that if there was still a chance.

We've been speaking to Villa for how long? And only now they decide to come out and say Grealish isn't going anywhere? We've pulled out IMO.

Well done villa? what a waste of time. You ain’t gonna get promoted and you’ve wasted another year of a possibly top player, scraping about in the championship. I bet Grealish is well happy with that. Playing teams like Bristol compared to Real Madrid at a new state of the art stadium ??

Yes, it's actually pretty normal behaviour. Hence why they hide behind "Sky Sources". Lyall Thomas lives for it.

You know they will probably still have affiliations for bets, even if the company is of separate ownership?
So do you think millions of pounds are suddenly being splashed on Grealish to stay at Villa?

Every single media outlet and ITK refers to 'sources'. That's how it works. Stop acting like it's this Sky-exclusive thing.

I've been expecting no signings for couple of weeks, annoyed at myself for changing to expect Grealish and now possibly being disappointed at not signing him. No doubt right now for me this has been the worse summer transfer window in I don't know how long, which is occurring at what I felt was an extremely important time for us.

No-one should ever take Sky Sports seriously within 48hrs of a transfer window closing. They love their 'deal is off' then 2hrs later, 'deal is on again' hijinks.

Maybe so. However I remember the Moutinho saga, with Sky on deadline day saying it wasn’t happening, in total contradiction to some of the most reliable ITK saying the opposite.

Let’s not pretend they don’t have sources just because it doesn’t suit us.

I don't see how this has all turned on it's head. ITK was pretty certain Grealish was coming to have his medical.

I see the usual suspects are well underway in their regular window meltdowns - for once can you guys wait till we actually know what has happened before losing your shit. You only have one day to postpone it.

Who gives a fuck. The dude probably won’t even make our bench if Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela and Moura are fit.

If you watch any deadline day show, you see this happen with loads and loads of links. It's literally their modus operandi. If something is from sky sources then there's a high chance it'll be on and off again repeatedly.

I mean I dont believe the sky stuff but lets say it was true, you answered your own question? It would be his fault for dicking about.

Like I said, not getting it done early is his fault. He thought he could get a better deal as Villa's financials were awful and all that.

Takeover came in though and helped them out a bit so he didn't get that right. Now he/we're working on it again... and the new owners have reportedly said he's not for sale. So first half, Levy's fault. Second half... not.

Can't blame him for taking the very realistic route of Villa not being able to sort their shit out so trying to get a good deal

Even if you dismissed the sky bet, i would imagine that their advertising spots tomorrow cost a lot higher than any other day in the year. The whole Transfer Window is a brand for Sky Sports. Not saying there is no truth in the quotes, but i think this one is far from being off, and that sky do embellish quotes/news to maximise income.

Levy would eventually sell the club, after that he wouldn't care less about what happens at the club. The fans however stay for life.

Levy is a fan though, he’s been going to the lane for 50 years. Just because you disagree with the way he goes about transfers doesn’t mean it’s anymore YOUR club

Nothing will be learned. Levy will do the same every window, people will defend him, people will berate him, and the party keeps on going.
As others have said difficult market or not this is a new low in terms of being rejected.
