SSN parroting the owner being very rich to negate FFP. But that's not how FFP works you imbecilic cretins.
Depends - actually. Up to now, its only been a monetary fine for violating FFP. As long as that stays true - a rich owner can decide the fine is worth it to keep players they think will earn them a promotion.

Even if there are now points deductions - that won't take place until next season - and would only apply if Villa are still in the Championship. If Villa are promoted, and can stay in PL, they can avoid the penalties...

"Tottenhams first bid for Jack Grealish was £3M plus Joshua Onomah."

The problem lies in that Villa have broken FFP hugely and are now showing zero signs of trying to remedy that. The fair play panel have the means to properly kneecap Villa in a way far more than losing Grealish for £25m.

Yep even said the issue of how they negate FFP was 'a moot point'... I'm 100% confident he has no idea what that phrase actually means as the situation as it stands with them refusing to sell JG whilst spending on incoming makes it very much not a moot point. Imbeciles.

Not sure about the official figures but a look here...

...says they are recouping more money than spending. And with other incomings right now as well as releasing top earners (Agbonlahor, Terry, etc.) are they really taking the piss financially? If so, where?

Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Hibernian to sign John McGinn, with the midfielder undergoing a medical. According to BBC

When has he ever moved the goalposts on a sale?

Agreed. Levy asks for sky-high figures but he's very straightforward about it.

It's not a single season deal anymore. It's the average of 3 seasons and Villa have been going over by £150million over those 3 seasons. They're something like £50million from getting out of FFP and that's before any purchases this summer. Grealish won't actually 'save them' but as an act it would show a proper willingness to meet the FFP rules and induce leniency from the panel.

They will probably try the QPR approach of challenging FFP (say on grounds incl that it cannot be used to force clubs to accept under market value) and then settle with the efl arguing that they thought they could sell him, but could not accept under market value, thought they might be able to sell in Jan... yada yada. Plus some dodgy naming rights deal for villa Park etc to reduce the gap a bit.

I'd guess the AV agreement with Grealish info has been fed to them by his agent, don't doubt it's true.
As for last minute changes like this, it happens a lot outside football in normal business life especially when dealing with people from certain parts of the world, that was my experience anyway, I suspect Levy won't pay it nor will he split the difference, maybe they'll shade a little extra but unlikely to be up front, more likely the add ons, if at all.

I don't know where you get those figures but Villa haven't looked like a team that had £150m of talent in a very long time
