If I were him I'd hand in a transfer request, you only get one career (and it can be all too short).

Playing under Poch in the PL/CL, instead of the championship, is worth the wrath of the Villa fans, who deep down will know it's the best move for his career.

Agreed. It's not like he's gonna come out and slate the club. It's just a request to move on - for the good of his career. Any rational, objective observer can see that a move to Tottenham is better than languishing in the Championship for another year.

It's funny how we are all up for a player getting his dream move, handing in a transfer request, kicking off. Until it's a Spurs player. When I say funny do I actually mean hypocritical? (n):)

Well everybody else managed to understand I was referring to concern regarding the max exodus comment and then said it would be groundhog day for the players but enjoy continuing to twist it.

Depends if the reports are true that villa went back on their word. Then he’s justified imo.
But we don’t know the full story.

All his family are fans and ST holders. They’ll probably now have ST’s or a box at NWHL? He has to take all of this into account and will have needed to square that with them all also.

probably not, but rocking up to work everyday at an amazing training ground, and walking out into the new stadium might. Players mention those 2 things a lot in interviews. Also, the new deals they are all signing would help.

*I'm not trying to excuse our transfer window, just saying we still some pretty cool shit we can be proud of*

They mention trophies more. Let’s not delude ourselves.

I'm not, just saying that our current players wouldn't be looking at the club and thinking "I'm at a club with no ambition" just because of this summer's transfer window.

It amazes me that we as a fan base used to mock arsenal for standing still and that period of not winning anything and now people are staggered that spurs fans could ever demand more from where we are right now. You can appreciate what we have achieved under Poch and be disappointed we aren't pushing forward on the pitch all at the same time

Danny Rose pretty much said that last year though and I get the feeling he wouldn't have been as brave to do so without a bit of locker room talk.

We spent 30m on Sissoko 2 years ago and the market is inflated even more now. This guy is younger, homegrown, has far more potential and more sell on value. I would not be surprised if we sign him for 30m today.

I'm going to give a mini round-up of what I know as there is a lot of rubbish being posted by the media and on social media.
In June spurs contacted villa. A fee around 25 million was informally discussed and suggested by Villa but NO fee or anything was agreed on. Tottenham were given permission to talk to Jack. Deal with Jack was agreed in principal. Over to his agent. His agent has been in regular contact with both Tottenham and Villa providing updates. Its his job to broker the deal. Last month Tottenham's original offer was around 18 million with add ins up to 25.
Everyone including Steve was aware that he would be off. An agreement was had at 22million plus add ons. I wont bore you with the ins and outs of the add ins.
Player contracts done. Agreement in place with Villa hierarchy.
Just waiting on green light. On Monday I think I posted about Levy wanting to wait until August. That was Levys decision again something to do with financial structure.
On Monday at 10:24 (Yes exact time) tottenham called it through.
A discussion was had and it was agreed that Jack would play against Hull as preparations had been made.
On Tuesday the story hit the media that a 25 million deal had finally been agreed.
The paperwork was done, just needed to be signed off by the owners.
The new owners rebuffed and said they don't want to sell ......
With all due respect to the owners they like many non football people do not understand the FFP rules. As a result villa have also had to wait and have lost out on players because they have no money.
The agent is still trying to push the deal through. Only contact atm is through him. I think Jack will put a transfer request in. He is desperate to play for England and see MP as the man to get him there.
The problem is rich non footballing men not understanding trying to show their power. But they need to understand for villas sake too.
The only thing i have issue with your summery is the line: " these rich non footballing men not understanding". They surely do understand money!!! and money is what it all boils down too.

If its true Levy wanted to wait till August then we only have ourselves to blame

Spot on, everything seems to be so binary these days. It's infuriating.

As soon as you disagree with someone they think you automatically disagree with them on everything.

Yeah I struggle to see why we would have been prepared to pay £30m for Sissoko back then (who was a Championship player) and not that for Grealish this window...

I'm with the view point, we either want him or we don't - I don't really understand the "we like him, but not for £30m, we'd rather go without" mentality.

If we don't want to pay £30m because there are genuinely a better options out there for £30m, why don't we just go for those 'better options' in the first place?!

Anyway, I don't think we'll pull this deal off anymore.

He was specifically referring to football specific rules (FFP) to be fair. Doubt Bill Gates knows much about that.

spread over the length of his contract. something like 5-8M a season . In footballing terms peanuts.
