I can't see Grealish being an alternative to Martial. If he is then there's something massively wrong with our recruitment strategy.

There seems to be a lot of demand for a new #8 but we have Winks coming back hopefully fully fit if surgery a success, Eriksen potentially dropping deeper more regularly and Dembele hasn’t actually signed for anyone else yet. Poch can also have a good look at Onomah over the Summer in a position that he has excelled at for England youths. There may not actually be any need?

It poses the question of why pursue Pulisic in the 1st place? Say we do get Martial or someone similar (eg Bailey) then it’s going to knock Lamela further down the pecking order. Where else has Lamela looked good? in Eriksen’s position. He’s the ideal cover so as you said, it’s in effect of waste of valuable resources when we already have someone capable of stepping into Eriksen’s shoes.

Don't think martial or Bailey would be brought in to back up eriksen

If Poch thinks he could work well with him then I can see the logic as a squad signing.

In my opinion this kid is similar, but inferior, to Maddison

Not thrilled, but then surely the club knows better than I do
I would prefer Maddison too, Grealish seems to dwell on the ball, Maddison knows what to do before the pass comes to him, which will help in the PL.

Definitely seems to be a opportunistic deal - Villa fuck up finantially, need some cash, we swoop in and nab Grealish..

Best Case Scenario: He grafts, works hard, takes that next step and becomes a good player in the team and maybe an England Itl...

Worst Case Scenario: Arrogant twat who lasts 1 or 2 seasons..but due to the low investment cost, recouping that shouldn’t be a problem, maybe even turn a profit...

All for it. AS LONG AS...he isn’t the “Cheap Alternative” to the quality signings that will really establish our intent.

Please can we stop this call for Eriksen to drop deeper. Thank you.

So thankfully it seems he is not a Martial alternative.

Not just saying it because we are linked with him - but one think struck with me massively in the play-off final - when Villa were chasing a goal, Grealish was always dropping really deep, trying to control the game and move Villa forwards. It reminded me of what Eriksen does and it was very impressive how he took so much responsibility at that age.

Eriksen definitely has the potential to play deeper, not that I think he should all the time. He should have the freedom to move around and that does involve dropping deeper in a number of scenarios.

Likewise Dembele has the potential to play forward.... thanks for the red X mark.
