Isnt this v similar to past windows?

Always started off brightly wanting to make statements of intent but no huge signings. People will be saying "my god window has only started for 2 weeks... we have 2 months more chill the fuck up etc"

Now comes the middle of the window when there growing signs of frustrations - "chill, the deals are difficult, we are trying our best, poch is backed"

End of window - "it was never easy to begin with... we have limited budget etc etc"

In my opinion, based on past windows, early complains at the start of the window are completely justified. I wouldn't be surprised if next season's blips are blamed on this window's delay in signing players again - lack of pre season, WC fever - clubs are only willing to sell after WC etc etc

Really? The league table doesn't lie. Champions League qualification 3 years in a row. Every window fans like you whinge about not spending £100's of millions on the latest shiny player.

I've been desperate for us to sign Maddison, and i believe JM and Grealish are very comparable.

I hadn't heard about JM's tweets about Bale and Spurs until yesterday. Although not a massive issue, it's unpleasant enough to make me prefer Grealish now, who i think would flourish under Poch.

Anyway, back to Grealish, I understand some are disappointed but he has potential and if Poch likes him and he's a bargain then I see no issue with it. Also helps our homegrown quota. Let's give the lad a chance.

My issue is he isn't top quality, he isn't CL level by far yet. I saw him in the promotion final and he looked only decent but nowhere near the level we need to push on. Many Fulham players stood out far better on the day like Cairney. Just look at our competition for Grealish. Leicester and West Ham etc

I also refuse to believe Poch sat there in May and when drawing up a list of targets to improve us to win the title he came up with Jack Grealish. I'm sorry but no.

Poch is being courted by Real Madrid but wants to stay at Spurs because we sign players like Grealish. I don't buy it. The window hasn't closed so we can only react to the window as it unfolds so noone is throwing their toys out the pram but it will be absolutely criminal if we don't sign genuine top class players who immediately come into the squad and make us so much stronger. Martial would do that. De Ligt should do that.
As ever we wait but some of us feel this window is exactly like the old ones when we thought it would finally be different and we'd act like one of the big boys.

There's absolutely no way of knowing that. For all we know Poch could have really wanted him but we could have been quoted 40m and with Poch needing to focus on other areas too probably felt that it would eat too much into his other transfers. We had links to Maddison and a HG player previously, so that suggests he was looking for someone in this role and now that Villa are in this desperate situation an opportunity has arisen. We will soon know whether or not Poch is simply being passed players, although him signing a new contract suggests otherwise.

I think that Grealish will be a good player to have in our squad. Good close control and good passing range. If he is an accompaniment to a top quality central midfielder and we strengthen other weaker areas (back up striker/WF etc) - then Jack would be a decent signing given his potential and ,probably, cut price deal.
