John Terry?
From what I read the professionalism of John Terry is what turned him around/. Terry may be despicable as a human being but he’s a professional and Steve Bruce claims that he was a maturing influence on Grealish.
I thought we have had genuine information confirming this was a goer haven't we?So is this deal looking like a goer then? Or we still discussing tabloid rumours?
Getting in a really decent player under the radar (especially early) is rare. We did it with Modric but I'm struggling to think of other examples. But surely the agents of these targets will be shopping their clients around for the best deal the moment we, or any team, enquire? I’m not really sure how one can avoid a bidding war in this day and age. If your client is avalible then your job as an agent is to push him towards the most money + most playing time with the CL as a big bonus. Maybe the bidding war might not be in the public eye but it must go on all the time especially for bigger names players no?

baggins on coys, more than 14 000 post and i dont think a bullshitter: My son, who works for Bet Fred, has just called me and said that one of his colleagues has a contact who works at Spurs and has told him that Grealish has an "appointment" at Spurs tomorrow. Appointment might be a chat with Poch and a look round the training centre or it might be a medical, my son didn't find out. He did say that the odds on him joining Spurs have dropped from 9/1 to Evens though. Just thought I would pass it on with all the Grealish info floating around at the moment.
posting it here as im unsure of the validity
Looking all set up
I wouldn't be surprised if we had sorted the finances fairly sharpish on this and this allowed villa to stave off HMRC for a while as was reported this week.
Comparing Winks and Grealish isn’t comparing apples with apples. It’s comparing apples with net spend.
Perhaps that's because the higher profile targets need to be protected. Last thing we want is to encourage an early bidding war.
Less than 20 million and it's a decent gamble to take.
Ffs. We have literally built ourselves up from consistent mid-lower table performances to top 3 three years in a row based on our sensible buying on a budget. To criticise our transfer policy is genuinely laughable - what we’ve done over the past 15 years is probably the biggest success story in the league considering our budget relative to the teams we’re competing with. There isn’t any reason why it should be us in this position right now rather than Newcastle, Everton or Aston Villa. We’d all like to see us make that final push to another level this summer. But at least have a bit of appreciation for quite how incredible what we’ve done up to this point is.I think you'll find we're about 3/4 of the way there. Only time you can question the club is when we inevitably fuck up the transfer window. Then you can question it and be negative for conservatively 3 hours.
