It's reported the difference between what we want to pay for Grealish and what Aston Villa want is £7,000. If we could not cough up say £4,500 to make this deal, it says either we lack the paltriest of financial resources or the ambition.

Just seven thousand pounds? Levy drives an even harder bargain than I thought...

Since when were Sky Sports on the ball with anything? They play these games to keep people interested.

This
Has been mentioned a few times Trix......

Stuff from Sky doesnt seem too positive though

They also thought we were done, reporter sent home, no signings at all in the summer of 2010.

Additionally, they reported that Aurier was off last summer, and that Lloris was off a matter of hours before we announced him.
Posturing from Villa or stirring from Sky I'd imagine.

Sky, it’s all sky. We have so few leaks for them to get real news that they make things up without using explicit quotes. If the villa chairman had actually said that, they’d be quoting him verbatim. As it stands, at most they’ve asked his secretary a leading question and received a vague answer like ‘we don’t want to sell him’.

Been told from sources close to #avfc Exec Chairman, Nassef Sawiris that Jack Grealish is not for sale, and will not be sold in this transfer window. This despite a £25m bid from #thfc that has been rejected outright, as have “further bids from other, similarly large clubs”.
similar large clubs? Who then? Why would they name us and
Nobody else? I smell bovine faeces.
Bringing the chairman in suggests a lot more than posturing to be fair. I don't think Villa fans would have rioted if he went so making him the Villain (forcing a transfer request) would be a dick move by the new owners.

To be fair, no different to how Jeremy Peace treated Berahino. But I’m still convinced that it’s just Sky trying to make it seem like they have a clue, when they don’t at all.

Also, on the whole skybet nonsense, yes BSkyB no longer own it, but that doesn’t mean they don’t earn from it. For skybet to keep using the sky name, which will probably be for a few years before a rebrand, they’ll most likely be paying sky a profit based commission much like virgin radio did to virgin long after they were sold because they kept using the virgin name before become absolute. This is because the new buyer sees the benefit of continuing with the old branding. I agree it has no bearing on what sky report though.

£7 million apart according to the Standard. Sounds like it will get done if you ask me.

Villa owners say he's not for sale now.
Next news will be player forcing the move to absolve new owners of blame
Then he'll sign tomorrow

Who gives a fuck. The dude probably won’t even make our bench if Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela and Moura are fit.

im not sure that was the idea really, more competing with sissoko & winks for a spot next to Dier/Wanyama

Like I said, not getting it done early is his fault. He thought he could get a better deal as Villa's financials were awful and all that.

Takeover came in though and helped them out a bit so he didn't get that right. Now he/we're working on it again... and the new owners have reportedly said he's not for sale. So first half, Levy's fault. Second half... not.

Can't blame him for taking the very realistic route of Villa not being able to sort their shit out so trying to get a good deal

I don't see how you can look at them as two separate ones, it makes no sense to me personally. I get what you're saying that he can't help the owners saying he's not for sale but it's his overall fault if the transfer doesn't happen.

Well they're separate in as much as the situation has changed. Start of the window by all accounts Villa were in a shit as hell financial position so we saw a good deal to be had there.
Takeover happened, things changed and it's not worked out for us.

I'm not absolving Levy of any blame here by any means. He totally could and probably should have just paid up at the start. He tried to go for an even better deal as it seemed possible at the time and that failed. I understand him going for a better deal (even if I don't fully agree with it at this stage).

Just had an email from Spurs to see if I want to upgrade my Season Ticket from Silver to Gold. They're really wringing out every penny to make funds available.

So... if what Sky reporting are true... how is Villa saying the player is not for sale at all Levy's fault?

Levy's fault for not getting it done before Villa had the takeover, sure. But now that's been done how is them saying no Levy's fault?
This should of been done and amongst others. Regardless of what anyone says, we shouldn't be going into a new season in a thew days with no one signed.
