Portuguese paper Record report this Monday morning that Tottenham have made a 30 million euro bid for Porto striker Jackson Martinez.
The Spurs offer is 10 million euros short of Jackson Martinez’s release clause at Porto but the timing of the offer is considered important.
Jackson Martinez is contracted to Porto until 2016 and Tottenham hope to tempt the 26-year-old Colombian striker before he discusses a new deal with the Portuguese champions.
As a result, Andre Villas-Boas, who coached Porto just two seasons ago, hopes to lure Martinez to White Hart Lane.
Martinez was sensational for Porto during his first season in Portugal, scoring 26 goals in 30 appearances. The previous season saw him bag 20 goals for Jaguares in Mexico.
This report of a bid for Jackson Martinez comes on the same day there is speculation that Tottenham have moved for Benfica striker Rodrigo.
Spurs fans will hope, with the ongoing rumours surrounding Gareth Bale, that the north Londoners do their bidding early in a transfer window, unlike their usual style of late bids on the final day.
