Decent 5th choice central midfielder - loan move to a Norwich/QPR type club would be a good move for everyone concerned.

Even though he was more of a natural replacement for Parker than Pienaar or Kranjcar, I'm puzzled as to why he was the preferred option of the three. The other 2 are superior in quality and have the experience and know-how in how to win and see out games.

Our coaching staff arent complete mugs, so if he was as crap as some would have, we would not have renewed his contract. He needs to be given a chance with a run of games, then judged, but if Pinear, and Kranky cant get a look in, he must have something to get on ahead of them all the time. Patience and hell either come good or get moved on.

Good point about him counting as a home grown.

Both Pienaar and Kranjcar are not holding central midfielders hence why Livermore replaced Parker, no other reason.

Livermore is never going to be starter, unless we financially collapse and we need to sell all our star names. it's up to Livermore to decide whether he wants to remain as 5th / 6th option or move on to a possible lesser PL team or Championship team.

He's a good player but the question we should ask ourselves is would he regularly get into the matchday squads of the other 5 top Premiership teams? I don't think he would but if he is happy to play back up to our sub midfielders then a loan move for him to get a bit more experience would be a good thing.

Sometimes the club will secure a players future to cover themselves. Say he signs a 5 year deal, it most likely tells me that if he doesnt progress 2 to 3 years into that deal then he'll most likely be moved on, and the club will get a decent fee because of the time left on his contract.

I have hope for this kid but its a growing trend with us in giving extension to our promising youngsters (Walker/Rose/Townsend/Carroll/Livermore) have all signed long term deals in the last 6 months.

If he was deemed good enough by Harry to play in the Europa cup, then surely he should play for us in some league games too.

Can you explain the 'logic' behind that comment. Why surely? Should Kane as well then?

Yeah I don't think that makes sense, otherwise we'd be playing people like Fredericks in the league too.

The logic is simple, he is considered good enough to play in the Europa cup so he should play some part in the league games too.

Yep because he was considered good enough to play in the Europa cup they were both part of the first team squad so why can't they get some game time in the league?

No that's not simple logic, that's yours and Lanh's way of arguing a point by just repeating it. We didn't take the Europa League seriously whether you like or not, so you've had a massive fail in regard to the 'logic' you are showing.

Really? I keep getting told that we were taking it seriously and the players were good enough to get us through to the next round, if the fringe members of the squad are only considered good enough for the Europa cup but not some league games then I guess the squad needs a massive overhaul.

To be fair Mullers, a lot of our fringe wasn't available for the Europa league due to injury. The likes of Kranjcar, Gallas, Pienaar and Corluka all struggled with injuries so the Europa league was made up of kids plus fringe. I don't think the kids are quite good enough (though I think Kane can do a job) but the fringe are.

You wouldn't know it though. Everyone in the team vs x threads is always scared of putting Kranjcar or Pienaar in the team, despite them being proven premier league players.

Apart from Gallas, people have repeatedly said that the players you mentioned are not good enough and to be honest I think Redknapp also thinks they are good enough, I mean why else would Kaboul be the back up right back ahead of Corluka.

I get the feeling Corluka has fallen out with Harry. He was always good enough before.

It does annoy me when everyone talks about our awesome squad depth, including Harry and then doesn't use it.

We only seem to know how to play one way though, and that doesn't help with the fringe players we have. If we have to play with width and pace, why do we even have Pienaar and Kranjcar in the squad? It's stupid.

We certainly don't have awesome squad depth and people will find that for themselves if we get into the champions league and Harry doesn't change the personal in the squad. Should we get in to the CL he will have no choice but to rotate. Pienaar and Kranjcar are last resort solutions for Redknapp, he doesn't want to taking any chances to rotate the squad because there is a bigger chance we could lose and Harry knows that it only takes a few losses for the pressure to be really on.

Because they were bargains...

I think Livermore will be another O'Hara, not good enough for us but good enough for us to get 3-5 million for. That is actually a very good sign, the type of thing the goons used to be able to do.

Actually one of the things I think HR deserves a lot of credit for is his decision to disband the reserves and move to loaning out our young players, first Walker, next Caulker and perhaps after that Carroll to come into the first team squad.

I'll only give credit for walker and if or when Caulker becomes a regular part of the first team squad I will give credit for that too.
