Interesting, as it looks as if one of JJ and Ali Z will end up being wrong. Pretty strong statements from both.

seems a pointless signing for me, we have promising in terms of fryers and verks, what we need is a first teamer ready to start games now, not somebody with no experience, leap from championship to premiership is massive and hes never really stood out in the championship for me.

One minor thing really, there's simply no comparison between the two in terms of what they've got right.
True, but in a new era, his supply lines may have changed somewhat. He still seems one of the best connected though.

Agreed, and he's going to be 22 in a couple of months; he's not a 19 year old rookie. He's more or less the same age as Caulker, and I'd say Caulker is the better player, yet we sold him because he was perceived as not being good enough.

That's far too simplistic. Caulker had a full season at Swansea, then came back to us and only played a minor role. He wanted to go because he wanted games every week and Cardiff offered 8-9m. You have to understand the context.

To get the same money for Caulker as we paid for Vertonghen is great business, particularly as Caulker wasn't going to get as many games for us. He needed to play.

It's nowhere near as big as you think it is, the guy is 20 and mustard.

Oh and how many defenders stand out anywhere? Unless they're a compete muppet, a **** or David Luiz then they're usually just background music

Seem to remember the last centre back signing from Forest working out pretty well.

I think we could compare this lad to Caulker to a certain degree even though Caulks has had a lot more prem games thus far and is a little older. Caulker we know is a big, strong, more old fashioned style centre half whereas what I understand of Jamaal is that he is a more athletic, Rio Ferdinand type centre back and if that's true then I'd much prefer him over what we did have and could have had again in Caulks (if we choose to buy him back).

If i had to compare him to one of our most recent centre back then it would be bassong, certainly nowhere near rio ability wise with the ball at his feet.

Agree I'd take Lacelles over Dier every day of the week, mainly due to him being 'battle hardened' in english football. Better prospect than Fryers IMO, and I quite like Fryers so thats not a slight at him.

Would be a great 4th choice imo. However a 2nd or 3rd choice is required. If this guy is signed and not loaned back out he needs to be involved and that would mean not only Dawson leaving but possibly Kaboul too.

I'm getting the vibe that Poch likes Kaboul and that he'll be staying.

Then that'd would lead me to wonder about Chiriches. Don't see us signing a CB even if young if not involved straight away. And struggle to see us going into season with 5 CBs.
I really hope we dont sell Chiriches, he's my fave player. Zeki Fryers is in desperate need of a loan IMO, when you think he's never had a run of games in English football, he badly needs the games under his belt.
