but ITK has pointed to JM not being primary target.. I think we've moved on

Last I checked - Paul said there is no movement for now. I doubt we have moved on in a permanent sense
I think we have numerous targets - he is one among them. It remains to be seen who we will push for...Paratici style

If we are moving out Tanganga, at the very least IMO, we need another HG player - so AM or CB could be potentially a HG player - so atleast that bodes well in JM situation, if he remains a target

I don't necessarily think we have fully moved on from him yet. He's definitely an option, however it could be that Leicester aren't ready to consider selling him just yet. So the feelers are probably out there, and Leicester are aware of our interest. So it could be a case of a deal being done later in the window if we haven't signed another AM in that time. I don't think we are in any immediate rush to sign an AM, more a matter of getting the right one in and assessing all the options properly before making a move.

I feel Maddison could still be on the cards depending on any HG players we move on. So things could change if we move on winks, tanganga etc.

Apparently Tielemans has been in contract negotiations with Leicester for 18 months already. Highly doubt he suddenly decides to sign - I think he's made his mind up and is looking for a way out ASAP.
I agree but I expect he is also pretty unimpressed with his current options, lukewarm interest from Arse and basically nothing else. His stock has dropped pretty far - maybe he’d reconsider, at least on a year extension to try to earn a better move.

I just can’t help but feel that selling Tielemans wouldn’t be enough for them. I’m not sure how bad their situation is, but can’t see them getting much more then £20M for him, £30M at the absolute max surely

I doubt they’ll get 20m. No one wants him at that price.

I want Maddison for sure. But if they refused to sell him but offered to swap Tielemans for Winks you would snap their hand off, unless you think Winks is worth even less than that?

I really hope their financial difficulties are bad enough that we end up buying Maddison. I really rate him and would happily pay £50m + Winks. I know many might feel its over priced but with his talent and potential, plus HG, plus getting Winks off the wage bill I would be over the moon

I wouldn't snap their hand off, I'd tilt my head up in a gesture of haughty derision and simply say huh!

We really are gonna have to sort this home grown issue out.
We cant just have a squad of foreign players so I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen.
Something has got to change anyway.
Anyone who watched AG's informative video on the subject will be aware just how far off we are from having a workable squad.

Of course it's not a gospel source, but Transfermarkt gives Tielemans's current market price as £49.5m

They're never absurdly wide of the mark, although Leicester's financial situation, if genuinely dire, would mean there's likely some room for clubs to haggle there.

Conversely they rate Maddison at £45m which seems about right.

With him only having a year left on his contract, in this instance, they are

If Arsenal are signing Zinchenko and telling him he will primarily be used as a CM, are they also going to drop 20-30m on Tielemans? I mean, it's definitely possible but given he's sitting there waiting it's odd that they haven't made a move yet.

If no-one comes in for Tielemans that definitely works in our favour.

I would be very surprised if Leicester sold Maddison this summer. He is their best player and no.1 asset.
Does not give the right message to the fans and would mean a struggle for them this season.
Tielmans the pragmatic sale with one year left on his contract.
Would still get £30m for Maddison next year with one year left.
Unless Maddison is prepared to kick up a stink I can't see it happening.

Looks miles off when you look at the length of contracts.

I would suggest last season was a message to their fans about a struggle this season. Vardy older and will eventually show his age... They still have some good players but as a squad 10th is probably the best they could do.

Thing is every club would know the contract situation of Tielemans and can either wait until closer to the end of the transfer window and offer what they think is fair, or even take a risk and try to sign him in Jan hoping that he does not extend his contract.

Some sites say he his contract ends june 30th 2023 others mention 2024 so not sure if it is an option or mistake, but either way I can't see Leicester getting that much for him. If they do sell him i still think they will need to sell Maddison as surely he is the one they can sell for a large sum? May not be to us but he is the most sellable player.
