Should put a claim in against Connor Wickham as his elbow to Vertoghens face caused the awkward fall

Typical to Spurs that it happens but have faith in wimmer.not so much for fazio who will now likely be on the bench until Jan is fit

We have strength in depth, so i am not too worried about the loss sad news as it is.

At least Jan can recover at his own pace without the need to rush back.

Apart from Wimmer being good cover, I think Ben Davies could do a good job as a left sided centre half and I'm sure I've seen him play there in the past.

I feared the worst when the first tweet I read was from Squawka saying he was "out for the foreseeable future", seems that's not the case, hopefully he'll be back for the NLD. From what i've seen of Wimmer so far I feel comfortable with him stepping in.

Maybe Dier will switch back and Bentaleb will come into the middle.

Good shout, but think more likely is Dier dropping back, Alli in his better CM role, Erikson in the No 10, with Son left, Lamela right?

Big loss but I have faith in this squad. Poch seems able to get the very best out of those willing to learn. Wimmer or Dier can come in and we still have cover.

All good shouts. Shows that we have options in the team which is great. Dier is a quality centre back and Wimmer has shown class in his recent appearances. It looks to me as though Toby is the organiser in chief at the back so hopefully we can ride this blow to Jan and the team

I disagree cos we've the best defense in the league and Verts has been a huge part of that. Wimmer is still untested in the league. We may end up missing him loads.

I hope we have the strength in depth to manage this rather than trying to get him back before he's ready. We have Wimmer, Fazio and Dier who can all fill in for him so if we don't see him much more this season we can survive I hope.

Fair point, Benteleb has had more game time recently, that was my thinking. He could just put Wimmer in.
