in his last season Bale put in a lot of great performances after his head had been turned about a move to 'greater things'. This guy has royally pissed me off with this comment the day after the latest in a line of poor performances at Norwich. Bale walked the walk while this one is just looking for a way out. I really thought he could be our future captain, but captains need to want to be at the club. he seems to be looking for excuses to get out- let him go for a HUGE profit and move on.

Personally, I think he should give us one more season. As that is when I really do believe the likes of Soldado, Eriksen and Lamela will start to shine. Could and probably will be a much more unified team next year.

Changed that for you. I hope those 3 click- we'll see

Then he needs to man the fuck up and get on with, instead of fucking sulking and putting in half arsed performances. He is paid good money, you take the rough with the smooth, fucking big baby if you ask me.
My thoughts exactly. It's because of attitudes like his we might not make 4th. All the talent but not the mentality...

Last season he was supreme. This season he has been very average to poor. For the money we will likely receive for him, I'm not worried in the slightest in getting rid of him. He is also a moody prick who looks like he doesn't have an ounce of passion.

Didn't think Verts would be one of 'those' guys..lost alot of respect for him today.

Especially as he was captain a couple of weeks ago.

We all want leaders on the pitch and a number of people on here called on him to be the captain. Now when the going gets rough everyone is piling on the excuses for why its ok for him to practically whore himself out.

I believe that who is in charge next season will have a great bearing on his decision.

In all honestly who can blame him if he wants to leave? Sold on an idea that never came to light, got rid of a manager and replaced with an unproven one. Levy & co need to sit down and get this fucking right once and for all stop dicking about with this constant stop starting process. And if you werent going to replace AVB with a need long term guy whats the point in sacking him?
This amateurish nature, is surely off putting by those stars we still have left at the club. Its going to back to the glory days if this carry on continues. Spurs by half measures in everything it does.

Yeah, he really looked like a bright shining sun before manager merry-go-round...

It's probably ready been said in this thread but you may as well have had Verts by himself for the Norwich game. Yes he hasn't been playing great but look at the shit he is next to.

Micheal Dawson flying through the air and missing the ball, Danny Rose thinking he can go past any player and loses the ball in a dangerous area and Kyle 'Not as bad at right back as left back but still shit' Naughton

Feel sorry for Jan

Given the downward spiral we've been on since Harry, Modric + VDV left can you really blame him? He's absolutely world class, he was world class when he arrived, it's not like we made him. The atmospheres shit at White Hart Lane and compare that to his send off for Ajax... Seriously, why on earth would he want to stay?!?!? He belongs at a club that's winning titles.

He has every right to be disappointed.

BUT..........he has no right to tell the world he will consider his options because he is under contract with the club. That is being downright disrespectful to the employer who feeds your wife and children.
Someone said that what else could he say? Well he can bloody say "No comment. I am bound by contractual obligations". Not difficult at all to say.
Whether it raises question marks about his desire to leave or not, that doesnt matter. We can continue to sepculate for as long as we wish. That is not illegal.

Youre very naive to think that footballers are different from regular people who want a better job at a more reuptable company with a better salary.

What worries me most about this is the lack of obvious replacements for Vertonghen, if he were to leave. We should probably replace Kaboul too - simply because of his injuries.

We're hypothetically looking at another two CBs, with both City and United fishing for one too.

Stephen Caulker anyone?

Completley agree, add to that the lack of movement in front of him when he has the ball. I lost count in the last few games the times he has berated those in front of him for not giving any options for a decent pass. Yes he has made mistakes, but that is going to happen, when you have to cover for the rest of the back four especially when Rose goes awol 10 times in a match. His frustration shows he cares.

Ledley has said he is one of the best CB he has seen and Kompany rates him as the best he has played with. That will do for me.

So that excuse is valid for Jan, not for Tim? Personally don't see it excuse enough for either.
