Was a very good player for us for a while. When we had him and Carrick in midfield together we looked very good indeed.

Never quite kicked on from there though and then seemed to decline very quickly not helped by the fact that a lot of Spurs fans gave him a ludicrous amount of stick.

He's a good pundit, and considering he doesn't seem to age at all, I hope we see him around for a while.

A little like Anderton, good on his day but suffered too many injuries. Never doubted his commitment to the club while he was here though.

Very good for several seasons and scored quite a few goals for a CM for a couple of seasons, then seemed to go downhill - but a few fantastic performances even in his latter time such as against Arsenal.

Excellent pundit though

Sad to see @jjenas8 retire. Top career as a player and now one of the best pundits! Good luck mate!! pic.twitter.com/GwMerYgaaL

pity he has retired but as a pundit he is one of the best right now. He's very intelligent, can speak well and due to still being young can provide a good insight into the modern footballer. I remember him scoring some great goals for us against arsenal and also in the europa league.

Got too hard a time, played some blinders for us

Not sure about the announcement though - should I announce that I've retired too?

I think he took a lot flack he didn't deserve.
He worked his arse off every game. He just happened to play at a time we as a club weren't all that great at times.

Pretty good article for a couple years ago. Explains why he thinks he didn't reach the heights he was earmarked for.

I've been wondering what actually happened as he's not past it age wise at all and I hadn't heard any announcement.

Maybe he was in the same boat as Owen Hargreaves. Conttact ran out and no new clubs?
'Former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas has officially announced his retirement from football after failing to recover from a knee injury.'

not sure worthy of Spurs Chat but will try if not it can be moved. Always liked him always thought he could/should have done better. Joins BBC Sport as a pundit.

Definitely worthy of spurs chat.

Good player and a good servant for us. Shame he never really fullfilled his potential because he should of been a regular in a title winning team with the athleticism he had. Enjoy watching him as a pundit and hearing his stories about spurs in the media.

Good luck in the future JJ.

PS Has anyone else noticed JJetset also retired from ITK this week? Coincidence... I think not.

Did injuries basically end his career prematurely?

In this day and age Jenas could of played on for a few more years, surely?

Excellent pundit anyway. Puts Shearer to absolute shame IMO.

Jenas' punditry reminds me of Graeme le Saux, in that he's well spoken and very articulate. The only real difference is that Le Saux is a massive ****.

Really? I actually don't ming Le Saux when he does co commentary. Always seems insightful, balanced and a bit cheeky. Compared to some of the numptys they have, he's excellent
