you'd be forgiven for thinking he might have more bite after being second choice for most of the season and having a point to prove but it seems he doesn't have that mentality. his head might already be elsewhere, he could be protecting himself for another challenge/team.

if he believes he isn't as good as some of the other midfielders at spurs he may have already given up the fight, he might not even realise it consciously, just there lurking in the back of his head.

if i were on the coaching team my advice would be blunt and simple. you could be the best player at spurs, but nothing is gonna happen for you if you don't want it enough, not here, not anywhere. you've got the engine, just change your game. do what palacios does, go loco. spit blood n bullets and everything will come into place.

don't be in the position to have to tell your kids some day that you didn't have the bottle to be everything you could have been.

now go make us a coffee, sweety..

Dont know who said it but someone said that Modric and Jenas looked good togeather in midfield?

They were rubbish, espically first half. It looked alot better when Wilson came on, gave it alot more power.

Worst Spurs midfielder since Jason Dozzell ?

No heart, no clue :bang::bang:

thats an insult to jason dozzel , he had twice the technique and heart of mr marmite ! jenas needs to go , everytime has harry plays him the team falls apart from the middle.
hopefully hudd and lennon will be back soon so he can get back to his seat on the bench

Wow, I just looked at the locked thread for Beckford. No wonder this thread is so quiet

Either that, or we're all just on ignore...:violin:

Anyhoo, maybe that means Palacios and O'Hara against Fulham? Maybe THudd's knee is A-Okay? Certainly rolling JJ out in the first 11 is just having a laugh.

P.S. Dozzell was pretty lousey as well, both he and JJ just seem to be ballast...

I felt that after about the hour mark the game pretty much passed Jenas by.

And it was about this time I started thinking how much better he was playing. :|

jenas was poor today, but playing him in a holding role?big mistake.i love the little fella modric, but since his been back ,we seem to have gone a little backwards.im starting to think that luka and niko are to similar, football is a funny old game, and whilst its great we all have our opinions, alot of guys on these sites know jack s**t .the reason im saying that is there's not that much difference to the way we are battering teams now to the way we were when everyone was happy and winning,i really do think that our finishing coupled with some amazing goalkeeping has created this slight dip,and hence kneejerk reactions that all our players are suddenly crap.i watch all our games and most other prem games, not many teams batter sides like we do week in week out,get real we are a decent side missing a great player..when we were fighting relegation this time last year,i actually said i would never get stressed about midtable medeocracy again,so long as we stayed up..now we are all getting our ba**s in an uproar in a season when we are flying high, get off the players f*****g backs .

if theres one consistancy about most threads, the players out of the side seem to get better and better, until they play..we have had everything this week, from making ohara captain to knighting keane.then theres the play pav brigade ,not to mention lets drop defoe mob!oh and what about 'has harry lost the plot'that was a great thread.our players seem to be only as good as their last game(or mistake for poor dawson)we all like a moan..but f**k me,can we calm down and get off the players backs, constructive comments yes, but just ignorent slagging for the sake of slagging?

As we didn't need an out-and-out ballwinner/holding midfielder for most of the first half, playing Palacios from the start would have been rather pointless; Jenas' deficiencies in the role only became apparent when Leeds started getting into the game in the second half, by which time we could, and should, have been cruising at 3-0 or 4-0. Aside from his WTF? backpass and a share in the blame for their first goal (and Bassong's share was altogether bigger) he didn't have a poor game; he didn't have a great one either, mind, just pretty ho-hum. It certainly wasn't his fault that we didn't give willing but not very able opposition the thrashing our dominance merited.

I defended Jenas for ages on here but I've almost given up on him now because every game I see him play in he's just ho-hum. He's clearly incredibly talented, Bobby Robson raved about him when they were at Newcastle and he knew what he was talking about. But it's obvious that Jenas doesn't have the mental strength and belief in himself to fulfil his potential, because if he did we would surely have seen it by now.

SS57, Leeds got into the game well before the second half and it was due to the fact that both Modric and Jeans left a huge gap inbetween themselves and the CBs when we didn't have the ball they didn't get themselves into decent positions and were bypassed to easily.

Very, very disappointted with Jenas. I have never said this about a Spurs player before, but I ate him. I do not want him in the match day 18 at all, nevermind the starting eleven.

He hasnt improved since he came onto the scene as a 17yo. An international footballer? You must be joking.

Some of his flaws as I see them:

First touch - Always goes backwards, irrespective of whether he is been pressed or in acres of space.
No Vision - cant make a pass forward.
No awareness - Doesnt know if he has time, doesnt know what he is going to do with the ball until he has it fully under control, doesnt know where team mates are or the opposition.
Positioning - Caught in no mans land defensively, neither protecting the central defenders nor getting tight to the opposition's midfield. Offensively doesnt get forward nearly enough, doesnt want to get beyond the strikers. Doesnt burst forward with the ball enough, and on the very rare occasion he does he doesnt know what the hell he is going to do with it until its ultimately too late.

Its no surprise we are in our worse form of the season and he is playing., We would have lost at Fulham if it werent for Gomes making some great saves. Might as well play a headless chicken in midfield.

I think Huddlestone is clearly first choice, I'd rather have O'Hara, I'd even consider Bostock.

7 days until the window shuts, hopefully we can get rid of him

I'm sure it is all in the head—in fact a while ago we had a post from someone who'd spoken to an (unnamed) Spurs coach who'd told him exactly that. He is incredibly frustrating, and at nearly 27 it's looking increasingly unlikely that he'll ever make the most of his potential. That said, there's a big difference between 'mediocre' and 'shit'—or at least there should be.

Huddlestone is 22? Of course he is going to be inconsistent. He has been a regular in a side that has stayed in the top 5 all season so far. He can not be that inconsistent, surely?

Fans can be too demanding sometimes especially of CMs because they have to work had just for positioning and even then it is not the most glorious role in a team because you are constantly helping the defence and attack but rarely right at the back or the front where all the crucial and obvious action takes place. You support the attack and defence by presenting yourself in the right position to make numbers count. It is not easy and it and Spurs fans have a tendency to under appreciate it with the likes of Carrick being subject to the same criticism.

Jenas has not featured regularly and as such he naturally drifts in and out og games because for a CM to perform they have to be 100% sharp. Jenas clearly is not. We see flashes but never dominance from him. Perhaps he is not what we want to get top 4 but then again he is not 1st choice so what are we expecting? Another Kranjcar to dominate games when originally intended as a squad player. They do not come around very often even at the top clubs. They also moan at their squad players. It is not because they are poor but because they do not have a momentum of games behind them and at the highest level the smallest difference can make all the difference.

Or just maybe our central defenders were in the main tto deep leaving our central 2 with too much ground to cover.

pretense to greatness without having shown anything close to greatness in a long long time.

You could be talking about THFC.

We have plenty of delusional and moronic fans who single out individual players as the cause of all our problems. None of our current players deserve to be called "shit" or categorised as "worst ever".

We are sitting in fourth place and are moving in the right direction. Being the best in a highly competitive league is difficult enough when you are trying to do it by running a viable business.

If I were Levy I would introduce and enforce a rule where abuse of a player would lead to the guilty party being thrown out of the stadium for the remaining game. Repeat offenders should be banned from the ground forever.
