Premier League clubs interested as race for Jeremy Doku’s signature heats up

West Ham, Manchester City and Tottenham are all contemplating moves for the 21-year-old forward

All of West Ham United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are trailing Rennes’ Jeremy Doku, in a race that could go to the end of the window.

While Spurs and - above all - City can make persuasive claims about going to clubs that can compete at the very top level, West Ham are able to offer regular first-team football. The east London club are consequently more advanced in their approach, and already have an offer in.

That is understood to be less than £50m, though, which is the price currently seen as necessary to get the Belgian international. City aren’t that far along but are confident of doing a deal for Doku and West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta in the next two weeks. Should that happen, it is possible that West Ham do benefit through a loan for City’s Cole Palmer.

There is a feeling that whoever doesn’t get Doku will then move for Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. The Selhurst Park club are currently trying to agree a new deal, though, having already tied down Michael Olise.

The search for wide players is currently one of the most competitive in the market.

Yes please.

We may get a little lucky here in a sense that KDB’s injury will enhance City’s need for Paqueta, in addition to the form of Palmer, resulting in this not being a priority.

West Ham obviously have lots of capital and an ability to move asap, so if we have been working on this on the sly then I really hope that we move quickly and decisively.

This is a perfect profile for what we’re trying to build under Ange.

I don't think first team football would be a concern here for Doku either! Unreal talent.

Surely he goes to City though, and if so Eze would be a great consolation prize!

The potential to come out of this window with Doku or Eze has given me a bit of assurance that we still have quality targets and are not just looking for agent led opportunities.

Think he's by far the best available winger we could get for Ange.
Insane at 1v1s, especially in tight spaces and from a standstill. Still fairly raw in terms of decision making but man he is almost the definition of a bums-off-the-seat player.

Been waiting for this link all summer. Time to get the Kane money out and slap it on the table alongside the promise of lots of minutes.

Perfect profile for the winger spots and can play both sides iirc.

If City are involved is it even a 'race for Doku'?

They've already crossed the finish line and collected their medal before we've even realised the race has started.

Usually, yes. But the forced Paqueta move and Palmer could potentially be in our favor. Here's hoping at least.

Hm erveryones so happy, I admit I haven't seen him play but his stats do not imply he is really efficient or more of a safe bet than Orban.

Exactly the type of winger we need to be looking at. Would love this one to be true. Ndombele linked with Rennes today as well, but not sure if that will help or hinder this deal

Completely different position. Orban is a striker where as Doku is a winger.

Doku fits our needs more imo, we are desperate for an explosive winger.

In truth we should be signing Orban AND Doku. Signing one shouldn't stop us signing the other.

Completely different player to Orban, this should be in addition. Veliz on loan, Orban rotating with Richy and Doku competing with Kulusevski. Actual depth with a couple of high-ceiling players.

Any relation to Sue?

The player we need most. He’s a ceiling raiser for every premier league club except arsenal and liverpool (saka and salah). Daniel needs to Do EVERYTHING he can to get him
