Yesterday his performance was poor. He went missing for a majority of the game. Now since he has been with us ( 2005 i think?) I have always been someone who stands up for him. I remember his first home goal v everton when i went. Alot of the crowd just didnt like the fact we had him, Then he scored and everyone was happy. Anyways, The thing is what has jenas done in his 3-4 years at the club? A few goals v the arse, but what games has he really dominated and taken by the scruff of the neck besides the 5-1 v arsenal. Someone tell me, What has he done? Should we sell him? Discuss.

Jenas is a very well rounded footballer and while his inability to constantly play at the level that he is capable of gets frustrating at times he is still one of our better players in our current squad.

If we pick up Sandro or whoever and he turns out to be a fantastic cm, fair enough. But we should keep Jenas, if not as a starter then as invaluable competition and cover. He really is a very decent footballer.

As redreb says, he's been our best midfielder for a number of years.
Since coming back from injury, he has again been the best performer in midfield - providing an engine, desire and workrate that even wilson has not provided.

JJ's game is allround - he will not always be teh one getting goals/ assists. Look at Hud's goal yesterday - started when wilson was beaten and the sunderland attacker was breaking through on gomes, only for JJ to come back and cover - ball breaks up other end of pitch and defoe lays ball off for Hud to close the game out.
Its just one small example, but illustrates a lot of his work that often goes un-noticed.

Jenas was not poor in comparison with those around him yesterday. He's not always noticeable as he doesn't do the hollywood passes Huddlestone does (usually into the stands) or the bone crunching tackles Palacios loves (which gets him unnnecessary bookings as sometimes simply nicking the ball is enough).

Yesterday he was constantly chasing players off the ball while Huddlestone stood around and as Jenas is playing deeper he is not going to get assists or score a lot of goals. He does a valuable job and our performaces always suffer when he is out. If you don't see the good Jenas does it's because you're not watching properly not because he has disappeared.

I always come under the impression jenas wasnt liked to much, so far we have 3 jenas fans. I agree with you guys until the last two games he hasnt stepped up for me. I think we need a new partner for wilson. I hope for muntari.

I do agree that a different style of player would partner Palacios better. A deep holding playmaker who allows Palacios to do his pressing further up the pitch would be perfect. This doesn't mean that Jenas is shit though.

curse him for not being what I want him to be! I want him to be like Modric and make things happen, but he's closer to Palacios. But we already have one Palacios and we need another Modric.

Jenas is not 'pulling his weight' for us. He has had a couple of outstanding performances for THFC but they can be numbered on 1 hand (over 4 hears that is poor...as is he!). He has 'flattered to deceive' and he has succeeded....but only in the 'safety' of England. He would, on his current THFC form, not make it in a good League? COYS!

Was not at the game yesterday so cannot comment on how he played but I have always liked Jenas. He does so much for us in midfield. I like the way he can just go on amazing runs, beat players, got skill and he can score. I know he does anoying things too but Jenas is a very good player for us.

So the Premiership isn't a good league?

The rest of your post is just rambled nonsense.

Jenas is a much better player than Muntari. Muntari is seriously overrated and Jenas is seriously underrated. I would be devastated if we swapped Muntari for Jenas.

Jenas seems to be an all or nothing player, i like him and he's put in many (yes many i said many) fantastic performances over the years, arguabley our best midfielder of recent years. But when he has a crappy day he's one of the most infuriating players to watch, sideways passes, runs to nothing and i bet he smells too on those days.

It just seems many of us remember his shitty days more because its so infuriating, when defoe has a bad day we dont remember so much because we forget he was there in the first place, Jenas does it bad to the max! Wicked!

completely agree.

IMHO Jenas is the best of the 3 we've been playing in central midfield.

Dare I say that Palacios has been pretty poor lately (noticed some very poor misplaced passes yesterday) whilst Jenas has actually been playing well?

They are just getting overun because Keane, Defoe and Crouch are a non event when it comes to helping out.

Palacios and JJ are my 100% lock in midfield for when Modders and Lennon are fit.

There was dancing in the streets of NewCastle when he signed for us. I was unhappy that he was coming to us as i found him mediocre at best, but i was only to willing to let him do the talking on the pitch and improve as a player and reach the potential so many other people thought he had within him. At the start of every season since he came to whl, people have said that this must be the season when he goes up to another level in his play, but still it hasn't happened.
As has been alluded to above, in all the years he has been at whl, he has shone in a handful of games, a pitiful return considering the key position he plays in. He is still to be voted MOTM after a game on this site.
Perhaps i scrutinise his play too much, but what i see is a player who constantly goes awol in games, a player with little vision or creativity who constantly slows down our breaks with a backwards or sideways pass, a player who does the safe thing too often, to dare is.... , sure he has a terrific engine but being a good athlete isn't enough. For me he is better suited to Fulham, perennial mid-table fodder, not to a club with our ambitions, but while Jenas occupies a starting position in our team, we will always be under achievers

Palacios has been poor for most of this season and even more so in our last 6 games and yesterday was shocking.
Jenas misplaced 2 passes at the start of the game and the crowd started booing - if he had played as badly as Palacios they probably would have stoned him!

Jenas is like a poor flecher, yesterday i thought he was bad one of thoese games where he turns invisible constantly chasing shadows.

Wilson has been kinda shit but ive noticed he gets a bly, if Zokora had made any of the mistakes he has made this season this forum would be filled with zoko hate threads

Palacios will always put his foot in, make tackles and be nasty to play against even when the rest of his game is below par.

Zokora was below par never tackled, never put his foot in, never broke up the opposition play and was never a player who the opposition would think 'Oh no i'm up against Zoko pops today'
