We're delighted to announce that Jimmy Greaves will be inducted into our Hall of Fame in May

One of the greatest strikers in the history of the game, both here and globally, Jimmy tops our all-time goalscoring list with a staggering 266 goals in 379 appearances in the league, FA and League Cups and Europe. That total includes 220 goals in 321 league matches.

Bill Nicholson signed Jimmy from AC Milan in December, 1961, the striker joining the team that had just won the league and cup double and forming a lethal strike partnership with Bobby Smith.

Quick with superb control and positional sense, Greaves was a natural goalscorer famed for coolly rolling the ball into the net rather than blasting it.

He scored in the final as we retained the FA Cup in 1962 and was on target again - this time scoring twice with Terry Dyson - as we beat Atletico Madrid to win the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1963.

Jimmy added another FA Cup in 1967 before his nine years at Spurs came to an end with a switch to West Ham.

On the international front, Jimmy remains fourth in England's all-time scoring list with 44 goals in his 57 caps - 42 of those caps as a Spurs player.

“For all the fans who have asked me when I will be in the Tottenham Hotspur Hall of Fame, I am delighted that we now have a date,” Jimmy said.

“I am looking forward to returning to White Hart Lane for this very special occasion.”

Indeed, since leaving the Club as a player in 1970, this will be the first time Jimmy has returned to our North London home, aside from occasionally taking up duties as a TV pundit and his presence at the Bill Nicholson memorial service in 2004.

Ticket details for Jimmy’s induction will be confirmed in due course

Great news. A true legend. A Fabulous goalscorer. Arguably the best for Club and country.

Hopefully it ends any rumour of bad feelings between parties too.

A truly deserving recipient of a 'Hall of fame' place.

Agree with all that. Shame he wasn't one of the first to be inducted after Billy Nick, but delighted to see he will be there.

Look forward to other appearances at Spurs too - like the opening of the new stadium !

No one more deserving. Glad they've persuaded him to leave his big screen curved telly.

Only Dixie Dean is worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Jimmy. Greavsie was quite simply the greatest English forward of the last 70 years

Whatever the truth behind him not being inducted I am glad he is now. There should be a statue in his honour erected at the new stadium, one of the greatest strikers to play the game and he was ours! Looking at the stats when Rooney was on for breaking the England goal scoring record you can't help but think if only Jimmy had played 100 plus games he would have been out if site!

Absolute legend

I seriously do NOT understand how Freund can be inducted. No disrespect to him, but i can name more than 10 players not in the list who were so much better than Freund.

To name a few:-
Crooks, Archibald, Galvin, Roberts, Perryman (i know he turned it down, but still),

Where the hell is Steve Perryman ? He should have been on there straight after the 61 mob.

He was going to be in 2012, the club even announced it. However a few days before the event he had to have emergency heart surgery! Not sure why it hasn't happened since, though?
