We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Jimmy Walker.

The 36-year-old joins us as goalkeeping cover having left West Ham at the end of last season. He spent five seasons at Upton Park and was part of the team that won promotion to the Premier League in 2005 via the Championship Play-Off Final. Jimmy also spent three months on loan at Colchester United last season from November making 16 appearances.

Jimmy began his career at Notts County before joining Walsall in August 1993 and went on to make 476 appearances during eleven years at the Bescot Stadium.

Perhaps Gomes won't be fit after all..?

Doesn't say how long the contract is, I would assume monthtly rolling.

A proper journeyman, nice for him to get a chance playing for a big club (I know he was at West Ham..lol).

third choice in case carlo gets injured. at least we wont have to rely on a youngster should carlo get injured.

another grodas! sure no harm in getting him in might even encourage the younger gk's to knuckle down to (in all due respect to him) do better then a journey mans career. GK's have it very tough and in ability wise theres probably not a lot between a lot of them except maybe a lucky break here or there.

welcome on board jimmy

Part of me hopes this means that there's still another deal to be done somewhere somehow.
Levy and Redknapp will find a way.

Makes sense that we didnt go for James now. Levy wanted a younger keeper.

So can we still sign goalkeepers?

Can we then play them outfield?

Can we convince Rakitic to claim he's really a goalkeeper?

So this was the surprise signing that ITK was telling us to wait until 5 for, i didnt think it would be two days late.

You can normally get special dispensation to sign goalkeepers outside of the transfer window under special circumstances (such as the all being injured)

I think we signed this keeper because he was a free agent. players who are free agents can be signed at any time.
