That's just insane if true. What if he picked up a major injury that affected his ability to play at the highest level?
Then they’ll go and spend another hundred million just as they have done with attacking players. Ziyech and Pulisic don’t make the grade despite a combined €100m price tag? Spend it again on Havertz and Werner. Those two not good enough? €100m more on Lukaku might fix it. Lukaku is shit? Loan him at a staggering loss and spend £400m the next summer. They simply don’t abide by the same financial realities as real football clubs.

Insane bit of business. Great talent, but €90m, WoW.

Pay what, almost double his release clause to get a jump on your rivals. That business model doesn't look possible for any length of time.

Anyways, still no striker, no guarantees of CL next season. I watched them against Leicester, they rode their luck in that match.

Conclusion: fuck 'em.

Sorry but €90M is ridiculous money for a young player. 0% chance any sensible club would pay that AND loan the player back
I dunno

people seem to suggest he will be one of the worlds top CBs so seems like they have gone all out to secure him and taken a gamble vs missing out on him

if he’s the main stay of your defence for the next 7-10 years then the fee doesn’t look so crazy to me

They’ve got a case full of league titles, CL trophies and cups won in the last 20 years…so maybe it’s fuck us

Let's be honest we are never going to push the boat out for really top quality signings under are current ownership so I don't think anyone should be surprised that other clubs are prepared to go above and beyond for quality and improvement whilst we will push for some signings providing we don't have to push the boat out for them.

While I think we have made some good signings I wonder how Levy and lewis view when they think the stadium is going to pay off in the transfer market.

I know there has been the £150m investment from ENIC but when you see what most clubs are spending even without champions league football it makes you think are we going to need someone to take over the club before we see the investment needed to challenge for major trophies.

I can't see any teams that going to mount any kind of challenge even contemplating looking at the likes of James and Traore even as last minute bargains.

It’s outrageous but I’m also not really that upset about missing out on him. If his release clause is set 60 that whoever gets him would have to pay crazy agent fees the same as with Haaland and I’m sure the same with Nkunku. It was never in a million years going to be us even if we did put in a bid.

This is why we will never win the league.
Disagree - we all know what Leicester did and we are a top 4 team with backing. We just aren't being used to launder money or as the plaything of a petrochemical authoritarian state. Look at what's happening in Europe - most of the big teams are skint.

There's a fine line between ambition and stupidity. I don't know which side of the line this is on, BUT I'm not surprised, or upset, that we erred on the side of caution.
Seems a ridiculous fee to me, let them have him.
The way some of you are reacting is embarrassing. How many of you have actually seen him play?

Just sell us off ffs. News like this really boils my piss. I know I'm overreacting but we have everything ready to go with the stadium, coaching setup and training facilities and still we have to be thrifty

"fuck us" o_O

Cups, titles, whatever. One fact still remains...it's Chelsea.

Go on...off to the naughty step and take 10 minutes time out.
