See Joe Cole is in contention to play for liverpool this sunday, obviously in summer simply had choice of both us and liverpool, and chose liverpool for money what reception do you think he will get from us fans? not that im overly fussed now with VDV coming instead!

In fairness to him, he made the right choice - he wouldn't get near our team at the moment

No strong feelings either way

How things funnily work out sometimes. I was a bit gutted when we never signed him.

Now I think it was a blessing we didn't.

I like Joe Cole, but I'm not so sure he's the player he was a few years ago at Chelski.

Remember the 4-4 match at the lane? He was unplayable that night.

not really for money lets be fair Liverpool are a great club...it would have been easier for J cole to stay in London and work with Arry it would have been the easy option.

Glad he went to Pool now.

He went to 'Pool because he knew he'd be straight into the first team, 'Arry rightly couldn't promise him that at Spurs. He'd be stuck on the bench for us, so he made the right choice imo.

Has Joe Cole ever really been that great ? I mean he was always talked up when a kid, went down with West Ham, couldn't hold down a regular place at Chelsea and was only ever ok for England.

Not a terrible player but over hyped - not fit to lace the boots of our VdV !

Complete indifference!

Maybe a little snigger here and there.
Providing we beat them, we dont want him having the last laugh.

He made the move for reasons that were best for him, including money and first team action. I too have complete indifference

I can't imagine he'll get booed. It was hardly a massive snub and he said nothing disrespectful about us, ao why would we give him anything other than an indifferent reaction?

Once we got VDV to play the role Cole didn't seem like a lost opportunity anymore.

I think you're naive to think J.Cole would've been on the bench for us, he'd have been starting every game.

In place of who(m) brett'?

Don't think it would be for the best, but i could see Harry playing him out on the right, or even on the left with Bale at fullback.
I didn't want to sign him when he was available and I'm even more happy we didn't now.

In place of Bale(who would then move to LB)

Not me personally, I was 100% against this move from the start, but there's no way Harry would've signed him and stuck him on the bench.

Probably true.

For a start, we probably wouldn't ahve signed VDV if we had got him. Secondly, therefore, there is a possibity that he might have played the VDV, so, we wouldn't necessarily have to find 'someone' for him to replace.

I argued strongly in faour of signing him, and I anm pretty glad we didn't. One thing, tnough: just because his form isn't that great at Liverpool it doesn't mean he would have flopped at the Lane. I think he is primarily a 'happiness' player - and under his old mentor, 'Arry, with the team spirit he has got got, I think JC would be flourishing - but still glad we got Van the Man instead.

I argued with you for months that Cole was past his best and always injured. While I don't think he would have been horrible for Spurs he would have hampered the progress of a number of our rising stars if you ask me. Bale would have probably been sent back to left back and who knows how this season would have gone if we had done that. Anyway, glad I was right and we didn't sign him, not good enough anymore and not the direction the club should be going.

We also more than likely would not have signed VDV like you said SP and for me this was the whole point of my argument, we could bring in a much better player than Cole and we did. One that could actually score goals and be that vital attacking midfielder/second striker that bangs in the chances that Bale, Modric and company provide for him. Just can't see Cole banging in the goals like VDV has done for us.

Would make us look like a bunch of Nasris if we booed him but I'm delighted we didn't sign him.

To be honest I'd have been happy to have got him, a player like that would have improved our squad but I wasn't too bothered that he went north and he probably would have restricted Bale.

Mind you who knew we were going to get VDV?
