Nuno Espirito Santo had an ill-fated spell at Tottenham. Early on, he dismissed Joe Hart, and in quite emphatic style, too. The former Porto and Deportiva La Coruña goalkeeper, prompted by the ex-England shot-stopper, gave his honest opinion on the now-Celtic number 1.

More evidence really that Nuno was in well over his head.

Not the same players at all, but reminds me of the AVB thing with Siggy/VdV

I thought Nuno was supposed to be such a lovely guy. That's embarrassing to treat people like that. Even if he wanted Hart gone there are other ways to go about it then humiliating him to his face.

whilst Hart was probably going to get very few appearances I felt he was good for the squad in terms of being a senior who’s actually won something. there’s also a way of dealing with people. I think Nuno’s time here pretty much tarnished his career. He was well in over his head and never once filled anyone with confidence he could do the job required at Spurs.

cant say i disagree with nuno's assessment to be honest, i'd probably have been a bit more diplomatic however. But yeah Joe Hart was an absolute hologram

What’s news here? Manager tells player that player is done at the top level.

Does anyone think Nuno was wrong?

I don't see anything wrong here. He was brutaly honest with how he felt and told him to his face personally. That's football

Nuno also got a similarly brutal message from Levy in pretty much record time. Live by the sword and all that.

The glowing praise that Hart got on here during his appearances for Spurs show just how wrong Nuno was.

Of course he was wrong. He apparently thought Lloris wasn't up to much either, and brought in a goalkeeper so poor that he's elevated Gazzaniga and Hart to a higher regard.

Considering how few appearances Hart made, it's bonkers to think that Nuno could be in any position to state that the incoming keeper he'd never worked with before would automatically be better, if not simply because he wasn't "his" choice.

Mention of Nuno having the tiny office again - wonder if Conte is also in the broom cupboard, although probably out being a nutter on trainging pitch he doesn’t care!

Nuno had his own office though - that's what matters

Sounds like Nuno could have been far more tactful and it's pretty clear from the performances of Hart & Gollini this season that we aren't better off with Gollini.

That said, I think it made perfect sense to replace Hart with a younger back-up who the manager has confidence in for cup games now and may actually have the potential to replace Lloris further down the line. Unfortunately, Gollini wasn't the right signing - not young enough or good enough.

I can't help wondering whether we only signed Gollini to sweeten up Atalanta for the Romero transfer. They signed their current starting GK a few weeks before we agreed the loan deal for Gollini, so either he wanted to move on to a bigger club or they wanted to upgrade on him - his performances for us suggest it's more likely to have been the latter.

Some of us appreciated him for what he brought to the squad, an experience of winning things & an excellent harmonious character within a very broken squad.

Yet his replacement could not only fail to unseat Hugo, but has seemingly had it made clear made clear to him that he will not be at the club when next season kicks off.

Nuno's comments were unprofessional, disrespectful & uncalled for. Hart won more in 1 season with City, than Nuno did in his glory filled career at the likes of Vitória Guimarães & Vila Real.

The guy would still be a better option than the guy who was supposed to replace him.

Well, it was Hart who asked him to speak freely.
