Joe Hart turns 30 this season - 30 million is ludicrous. He has optimistically 3 or 4 more years at the top of his game most likely as he's not a in my mind a keeper like Buffon or Cech who defy age simply because they're so astute in their positioning.

29 is quite young for a keeper, even David James was cutting it in the prem at 40

Hart probably has 5-6 years left at the top and more at a decent level

That may well be true, but the only clubs who are going to pay 30 mil for him are in the Premier league and other than Liverpool, I can't see anyone else who would be possibly willing to pay that amount of money and who need to invest in a keeper that badly.

That is where i think he will end up, Maybe Arsenal but Utd/Chelsea don't need him and we are covered

Hard to say. I think a lot of clubs are moving away from a pure shot-blocker, and more towards a keeper who can play the ball at his feet to support a high pressing team, that wants to build possession from the back when they recover the ball. Hart is more of a throwback keeper, but not many top squads are looking for that type of keeper.

True

That is my main criticism of Lloris, one of the best shot stoppers in the world, top 3 certainly, but his distribution with the ball is not up to scratch for a high pressing team

If he goes for more than 15 mil I'd be really surprised, he's doesn't have anywhere near the skill-set required to play for a team as anything other than an effective shot stopper. He's a bit of a superstar keeper in so much that he'll pull off good saves, but I'm not convinced he's say like a Cech or Buffon - as in - a keeper who significantly improve a defence as a unit.

His distribution isn't fantastic, but what he does do (and we'll notice the difference now with Vorm in goal) is allow the defence to play with a high line. Vorm doesn't come off his line like Hugo - we're going to see that in the next few weeks and the fear is that we're going to be susceptable to balls over the top. Hugo compliments a particular defensive system (and is almost perfect for Poch's in that regards) - really don't think Hart has any ability that makes him anything other than a well above average shop stopper.

Isn't the transfer record for a goal keeper in the region of £32m? I can't see anyone paying close to that for Hart.

Yep, and that was for an in his prime Gigi Buffon over a decade ago. Imagine what he'd be worth in today's money...

Would Liverpool be interested in upgrading MingeOmelette?

Yep. The record will be broken soon - I think it was almost broken by De Gea to Real last year - but I can't see anyone paying that much for a player being forced out of a club.

Would Liverpool be interested in upgrading MingeOmelette?

They bought another keeper in the summer but he's injured at the moment. No idea if he'll be in the first team when he's fit though. If he's not then a move for Hart would make sense.

I'm sure he will find a new club but certainly not for us. I don't think he's head and shoulders above Vorm who had a good game yesterday.

The latest media reports seem to suggest that he's ruled out going abroad. I can see him ending up somewhere like Sunderland.

Not that he's worth it, but I bet someone pays 18-20 million for him. Solely for being British and well known, don't get me wrong I wouldn't be paying that for my club... But look at the ridiculous prices of some transfers lately!

The thing with Hart wanting to stay is I'm not sure where he can actually go. Who is in need of a new 'keeper right now?

Out of interest, according Squawka, of all the Premiership keepers who played regularly last season, Hugo Lloris ranked 1st for accuracy of distribution with 68%, and his average pass distance was 38m.

De Gea was 62%, Hart 59% and Cech 66%, for comparison.
