I'm sure you all know that Martin Jol's Hamburg are currently top of the Bundesliga, but you may not know that they have been playing with a real spirit - coming back from 2 goals down at Bayern Munich (managed by another old fave Jurgen Klinsmann) to draw 2-2, and also 2 goals down to Bayer Leverkusen to win 3-2.

They're on 10 points from 4 games with a gola diff of +4, and they're at home to Borussia Moenchengladbach on the 27th sept (k.o 14.30). they have the easy-on-the-eye Rafael van der Vaart in their line-up, and BMJ is trying to sign Mido!

So if it all gets a bit depressing this side of the channel - I would suggest some footie therapy is freely available.

Tickets start at 15 euros(!) for behind the goal, the ground holds 55,000 so there's bound to be room, German beer is quality, and by all accounts Hamburg is a great city.

Easyjet tickets to Hamburg start at £22.99.

This has been a public service announcement.

Van der Vaart scored a quality goal for Madrid on Saturday.

He did, but they don't seem to be missing him as much as you'd have thought. Martin signed up Thiago Neves.

And for that reason and as Jol is the manager i'm considering adopting them as the 3rd team i support.

Martin Jol -
