I think the threadstarter missed out:

"... from the office to the training pitch to take training as normal",

in the title.

"Daniel Levy phoned me to say the report was rubbish and hoped I would be with him next year," said Jol. "He is always good to me, always backing me."

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7009571.stm

This quote only came out today. Not an exact assurance of him staying. But, better than nothing, which is the evidence we have here.

Nothing against you DFF - but I remember a while ago when Jol said he wasn't under pressure from the board to finish top 4. Then 3 days later at a press conference and after board talks said he had been told he must achieve top 4 and that is what he'll try an do. Something along those lines anyway.

True or not it further highlights the atmosphere of uncertainty around his position that can only be detrimental to the club.

I simply can't see how Jol being sacked or walking or whatever is going to do us any good for this season.

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Tottenham Hotspur Football Club PLC was due to
hold an emergency board meeting today after under-fire team manager Martin Jol
told them he is ready to leave the club, according to a report.
The board of the AIM-listed north London club plans to meet to discuss who
they could put in place to run the team if Jol leaves now, London's Evening
Standard reported.
Jol is believed to have had enough of other managers being linked to his
job, including Juande Ramos of Sevilla and former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho,
after a poor start to the season that has left Spurs third from bottom in the
Premiership, the report said.
Jol wants to go, but is determined not to resign and miss out on 4 mln stg
compensation due to him under his contract, the Standard cited a club insider as
saying.
The board have lost faith in the Dutchman, but are unsure whether to sack
him now, give in to his pay demands and install a caretaker manager for the rest
of the season, the newspaper added.

This is one monumental fuck-up which (I was going to say - could only happen at WHL) is indicative of today's climate in the Premiership. Win at ALL costs, no time to shit or think - just win. Unless you are Man U or Arsenal who coincidently have the most trophies between them over the last ten years, won by the same Manager.

Perhaps not coincidence - more prudence.

Still those all stories are only a fucking paper talk and still even you're living in England you take those stories like those are pure fact, while knowing that english newspapers are full of shit when in question is football.

From football365:

The grapevine is buzzing with rumours that Martin Jol is either about to be sacked as Tottenham boss or has already left White Hart Lane. According to reports, the club is set to hold an emergency board meeting today. Bookmakers have responded by suspending betting on Jol being the next managerial casualty.

can someone please explain to me why so many fuck wits round here dont realise that if Jol goes our season is just going to get worse. No on is going to come in a do a better job at this stage mainly as there is no one else. So surely we would be better to stick with him until at least the end of the season? no?

The grass is always greener. No exceptions.
