this is why he's no longer great, he hasnt evolved with the times, players are more soft now - if he is as special as he often procliams, he needs to recognise this and adjust!
Absolutely.

When he took over there was lots of talk about him identifying his mistakes from the past and putting it right. There was even talk of a new style of football.

But he's alienating the players again and the style of football is still the same, except it's no longer being effective.

Simple reality is, he's done with club football.

I feel similar mate just cannot believe what a combination of Jose and the poor player recruitment has led to such a poor toxic feeling amongst the fans but I think we can still turn it around with the right next manger.

We go in phases :
Santini - poor
Jol - great

Ramos - poor
Redknapp - great

AVB - poor
Poch - great

Jose - poor
... ?
Does this mean the next manager will great regardless of who we hire?

Was Poch's greatest achievement making Sissoko occasionally look like a footballer? Is this part of why Jose looks so bad - that Poch massively overachieved?

For me Poch's big achievement was putting the team together and getting them functioning as a unit.

2 experienced centre backs who are good on the ball, wing back who could get up and down the wing all game long, 2 physical players protecting the defence, a varied front four with an inside forward, playmaker, AM running into the box constantly and a complete striker, all 4 putting in a shift.

If we'd had a conveyor belt of players being brought in that fit that playing style we probably could have kept going with Poch. But the backups never matched the first team for playing style.

I think he also improved them as individual players but definitely giving them belief and playing a system that suited them also helped.

How is this such mad rocket science that Jose cannot do something similar?

I’ve never been someone to quickly demand getting rid of an underachieving manager but I can’t shake off the fact that he’s got so many players playing at the worst level of their careers all at the same time. We raved about Dier, Sanchez, Winks, Dele, Bergwijn and even Sissoko at some stage of their Spurs career, amongst others. You might not remember it but we did. Even Son and Moura who still play regularly dont look too confident any more. Football is a team game but at the moment it’s all about Jose - and he’s looking bloody miserable at the moment.

I would be amazed if we sold Kane this summer. Not because I think he wants to stay, I just think it would be such a tough deal for any buying club to do in the current climate.

We are undeniably wasting his talent right now and he must be aware of that and (one assumes) be feeling incredibly frustrated about it. Scary to think where we would be in the table without him though.
So would I, if I was Kane the only club I would cons going to would be Man City, at City he would would win trophies, he would score loads of goals, probably break the PL goals record.

I don’t see what he could gain by going to PSG, it’s a one teams league, the2 Spanish clubs both have a lot of building to do same as Spurs, and, we see treatment and pressure the fans and clubs put players under who don’t quite hit the heights immediately.

I’m not advocating Harry leaves, I’m just trying to look at it from what his perspective would be, where he could go to see where, he could achieve his own personal goals. I personally don’t want him to leave and let’s hope next season is better than this, it’s, just at the moment it’s a bit dispiriting.

We said the same about arsenal and abaumayang last season but they’re doing about the same without his goals. Obviously Kane is a superior player but others would step up. They’d have to.

Anyway, you’re right. I think he will be here next season but I’m not 100% certain at all. I don’t think anyone can be.

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

Nice quote. For the younger generation on here, in case you are wondering who this Socrates fella was:

Aarrghhh balls. He's still here then?
Nevermind. 1 down, 7 to go :)
Jose or Davo99?

Only joking. On a more serious note I have dipped into a few threads today and, understandably, there is a lot of frustration and anger. I think it’s important that we don’t turn on each other though. Let’s try and be rationale and accepting of each other’s views. This Jose period will likely be over soon so, whatever your opinion of the chap, we should be able to move on.

I think that what really happened was that Pochettino was able to construct that team from scratch; and it became more than the sum of its parts, full of hungry or unassuming players.

But over time, as the team improved, some of the players became huge whale sized parts. For example, we started with Mason and Bentaleb but then Dembele played himself into the team and became this singular phenomenom - who was obviously impossible to replace.

Also consider Wanyama: Although he was superior to Dier, it can be said that Dier had better synergy with the team as a whole. Wanyama was better but our patterns of play changed and became reliant on Wanyama's individual excellence. So when he was injured Dier couldn't slot back in as the team had evolved.

And there are other aspects, such as not being able to integrate Kane, Dele and Son properly.

We were victims of our own success in a number of ways. With our lower wages and lesser cache we couldn't easily replace these world-class players. And then, because we were on an upwards trajectory players stayed with us (like Dembele, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Lloris) rather than being sold for big fees, and when we need to replace them there's not a big injection of funds to help.

It’s crazy what such awful form we’ve been in the last few months yet a final that’s going to end up being irrelevant is keeping him in a job ??‍♀️

I highly doubt he’ll go after that final too. Embarrassing really both on & off the pitch.

Its so sad that we’ve come to this point. I knew it the day he was here, i even voted praying for him to fuck off lol. Truth is, mou is very much like levy. Neither play to win. both of them plays to not lose. Its a huge difference in mentality and its the reason why we will never be Winners

I actually like Jose as a person and if we don’t win next week it will be so Spursy that we’re the only club he wouldn’t of won a trophy with.

However, the last few months have been unacceptable and we need a change. Don’t let the change of manager fool you about some of these players though. They have let down 2 world renowned managers now and 50% of them at least need to f*** off.
