I know I am in a minority but Lo Celso has not really impressed me . Today he did well for Kanes goal Although that was more about Kanes ability. Generally I think that if what we are seeing is as good as he is going to be I would put him only slightly behind Ndombele regards disappointment in regards ability versus transfer fee .

Lloris
RB Toby Dier Davies
CDM CM
Right Wing Lo Celso Son
Kane

So we still need minimum 4 players in our squad to make it into the top 4 quality again as I think Aurier/Winks/Sissoko/Moura/Lamela won't take us to the top 4 level. .

Assuming we are signing Hojberg and Castagne - that's two main 11 options taken care of. Now what about Right wing and CM Role? Will Jose persist with Sissoko/Winks if Ndombele doesn't become the next mousa dembele within 2 months? Or Jose sacrifices Sissoko and buy another cheap Box to Box CM and persist with Ndombele one more season?

Also given chance, Will Jose try to improve right wing with someone like Ryan Fraser/ Willian? I hope we sacrifice one of Moura/Lamela(Hope it is Lamela as I think Moura has been good in the last couple of games) and buy a top quality winger/attacking midfielder hybrid

PS: We still need one back up Striker for squad options and another CB if Foyth leaves.

What mess exactly?

Did he leave Inter with a mess?
Did he leave Chelsea in a mess? Even though they went on to win the league the following season (and implode again the year after under Conte)
Did he leave Madrid in a mess? Or did they win the CL the following season.

He doesn't leave clubs "in a mess" his position just becomes untenable either because he falls out with the board or some players stop playing for him.

He lost the players in his last three jobs but the board still liked him (United excluded). None of those clubs had a mess in their squad.

He left Inter because he achieved everything and he helped create a real family atmosphere between every one in the club. I've heard that first hand from one of his ex-players.

He left Chelsea first time because Abramovich was imposing himself and telling Jose how to play, to which Jose had enough.

When things go sour with him at the club, we'll move on quickly and I'm sure the squad will be fine.

Finally, you want to know what a mess is?

The one Jose inherited. A team who hadn't won away since January, a team who were in relegation form, a squad of players who were on their feet from the years of high intensity pressing and same old training methods, players who'd been replaced by inferior options and a complete lack of morale.

That's not a bash at Poch. It's to prove that all teams are left in a 'bad' condition when a coach leaves.

8/10 for me. He inherited a good squad granted but a squad and a team plummeting towards the foot of the table, scarred from the UCL final defeat, with injuries, contract issues and a former core (Dembele, Eriksen, Jan, Rose) that had been rapidly disintegrating for a season. I think people look at the names in our squad like Kane and Son and don't appreciate how broken we were when Jose took over. Yes we experienced a typical new manager boost but those previous cracks started to show again and then we suffered a crippling injury crisis. Whilst it hasn't been perfect since the restart I can see progress in some areas and 5 wins 3 draws and a loss is a promising return from the last 9. There is obviously work to do both on the training pitch with our offensive dynamics and also in the board room with our recruitment. We've played the last two seasons with a pivot of Sissoko and Winks who are both good players in their own right but if you compare that to the midfields of our top 6 rivals you can see why we struggle at times. I'd hope that bringing in the likes of Hojbjerg and finally being able to accommodate Tanguy in our midfield will make us look infinitely better. Big window ahead but if we can nail it I am confident we can achieve top 4 and a trophy which I'm sure will be Levy and the club's target.

Great ending to a nightmare season. Well done Mourinho.
thumbs up.

If you told me European football/6th and above Arsenal after:
-sacked Poch and in the teens in the table
-Kane out for months
-son out
-sissoko out
-others i'm forgetting
-biggest signing not quite working out (either with new manager or at all)

I would have a hard time not feeling that was a pretty effing good outcome. I know the pandemic has been chaos^3 and we have seen some shite matches (and yes, i would have loved to see UCL again). After what we've seen recently from Spurs/Jose, I want to see what the evolution of this last few "green shoots" games looks like over a full season. A good run in Europa + challenge for top 4 (and if luck breaks, the title) are my expectations for next season given players, manager, club, etc. I'll judge more harshly next season if our trajectory is lower/lesser than that.

We march onto European Glory (ok it's EL, but it's a trophy and gives CL the following year) next season. No doubt at all.

We should have sold sissoko last season rather than giving him new contract. What on earth levy was thinking giving sissoko a new contract whose age by that time was 31?
