Haven't really logged on much in months but given my very clear stance on the manager all those months ago I have recently been forced to go out and purchase the ingredients for a rather sizeable humble pie.
I'm not baking it just yet but I'm definitely and happily feeling a clown right now

There’s a few of us in that boat. He’s doing good work and it goes to illustrate a lesson I thought I learned a long time ago - there aren’t good or bad leaders, there are leaders who are the right fit for the context and occasion who arrive at the right time. Mourinho is that person for us.

You can tell he is making the players believe in him and themselves more and more each game.

If the players trust him and it looks more and more like they do, he can win them things. He has shown everyone he can do it time and time again.

Even peak Ferguson rolled out performances like these with United at their peak.

It's the other 30 games they looked great in.

My memory is pretty shite but Fergy never ever set up a team like that

Yes they won loads of scrappy games 1-0 especially away from home but he never sat 7/8/9 players behind the ball, let the opposition have it and just played on the break

Leagues are won with 1-0 wins but the way Fergy and Jose got/get them is completely different

Fergie never really had to play a team with more resources than United and better players than he had though. Flr the majority of his time there United were the hundred pound gorilla in the room. Once Chelsea and City started spending, he started to struggle a bit in some of the bigger games.

Yeah but Jose doesn’t do this every game

Nor does he have the luxury of having the biggest chequebook in the league and pulling power Fergie had

people forget how uneven the playing field still is financially and how badly teams like City and Utd are underperforming vs what they have spent

At the end of the day this approach of adapting the team to try and win the specific match has a better chance of success with our squad than one defined type of play regardless of the opposition

Yep. And it was only a week ago that John Barnes was saying how we lack harmony and togetherness, and that the players don't look happy. ??‍♂️

And players e.g Gareth, Carlos, Sergio etc willing to come and play for a manager that gets slated by some pundits. I know a nice big wage packet helps but they are still willing to come and play under Jose.

You and me both. I was horrified when he came into the club, thinking the whole package was so wrong for this club. There were points during last season, where my predictions and concerns were playing out. I have to admit, similarly to you, that I am being proven wrong about Mourinho. I always thought he was a chequebook manager who threw money around to buy the best players, but I think there is far more to him, and this becoming evident this season. He's injected self belief, confidence and a team spirit i never thought he could muster.

Hats off to him and I'm happy to eat humble pie...

Now that we are 9 games in its seems clear Mourinho would like a couple in and a few out

OUT: Sanchez Rose Gedson Dele
LOAN: Tanganga

If Toby is out for a while we need another option Mourinho can trust beyond Dier. Rodon could be that guy but then again he might not. We also need cover for Hojberg and good cover at that to give him some rotation without weakening the team too much

I'm sure he would (realistically) want;

Skrinier
Brozovic/Khedeira

Can Levy do it for him in Jan?

I dont think he wants to loan tanganga. Hes been injured all season with a thigh injury apart from the 70 mins in the league Cup against Chelsea. We would deffo have to get another centre half if tanganga was to be loaned out

Arsenal Man Utd semi final CL. They played specifically on the counter.

Also I remember when Jose first went to Chelsea and those United/Chelsea games being incredibly boring. Why? Because both coaches were very defensive in their approach and played with a 'don't concede first' mentality.
