Hmmm so was all this predictable ?

5 objections when he was hired. Quoting from that post:

1. His man management skills since he left Inter can be called into question.
2. He hasn’t overachieved since Inter. Nothing else he has done this decade represents overachievement ie the manager really added significant value. We are still in a position where to compete we need to overachieve ie manager needs to add magic.
3. Mourinho hasn’t developed players who are world class potential since his first spell at Chelsea. Young players dont develop under him. We are going to be in the market for the kind of player who Mourinho won’t develop. Unlike all of his clubs since Porto, we will not be buying ready-made world class players.
4. He plays turgid football.
5. He has notable instances of falling out with non-playing staff that creates instability at a club eg chairmen and doctors.

This is not a told you so. Some points are debatable or there are exceptions. But it does show that what we are seeing now was thoroughly predictable from day 1. I’m BSODL but I blame this on Levy. It’s not Mourinhos fault he is being paid 15m / annum to coach a football team. Who wouldn’t take that? It’s Levy’s for hiring someone whose star had so obviously faded a decade ago.

We have an extraordinarily expensive squad and I can't think of a single member of it, now that Gedson is gone (sorry to him) and excluding Hart, that hasn't performed well at either PL or European level in the past 1-2 seasons.

Here's a good example: Doherty was class at Wolves when he played RWB, now apparently he's shit and he's unworkable. He was never WC, but he was a quality role player who contributed plenty. I blame the way he's been used. Has he ever played RWB for us bar that trainwreck of a second half against Liverpool?

Jose was brought in as a final roll of the dice because Levy still believed we had a winning squad and Poch simply wasn't getting the best out of them. Jose Mourinho was not and will never be in charge of a rebuild.

If he doesn't get results this season then he's 100% out. Either way, hopefully Levy finally realises that a proper rebuild is crucial and entirely too late as it is, no time to waste.

Levy has been in denial of a squad rebuild since Poch intimated that very thing in his final days.

The opportunity to get Jose was too much to resist and so he has continued in denial.

I am sure Jose has already told Levy what we need and who needs to go. Whether Levy chooses to listen or get another coach is down to him.

If he gets rid of Jose and the next coach doesn't work out then I think he may have to come to terms with losing Kane and Son within the next 18 months.

I think Jose is gone by the end of the week. If not, I don't see him surviving past the City game in 14 days.

This team is completely imploding on itself.

Dele, banished from the team since his solid performance at Marine. Aurier, banished from the team for whatever happened at halftime against Liverpool. Doherty sitting behind Sissoko at RWB because Jose doesn't rate him. Vinicius sitting on the bench with no opportunities despite Kane's injury.

The whole thing is insane. I see the lineups each game and none of it makes sense.

Danny Rose called it a year ago. Mourinho has bizarre vendettas against players, banished good ones for no reason and insists on playing out of form guys like Bale, Bergwign, Davies, etc.

Spurs should have listened to Pochettino 20 months ago. They need a massive rebuild to sell off the driftwood for a loss and invest serious money into new world class talent because right now, without Kane and Son this team looks like a bottom six PL club.

I really don't get why some people keep saying we haven't started a rebuild when we've signed so many players in the last two seasons. We can't replace an entire squad in two seasons, it takes time. You can question the quality of some of the players we've brought in, but every club will make mistakes in the transfer market.

I’m astonished that he praised the second half. It was marginally better but 3/10 rather than 2/10.

Why have this obsession with lining up to negate the opposition?? It worked against Sheff Utd but they’re so poor (when we played them) that can’t be a barometer.
Back 5 against Liverpool, back 5 last night with totally different personnel. Both times changed after 45 mins.
He had 2 days to work with last night’s defensive unit. That is not enough time!!
He is making the sort of decisions & mistakes managers make when they know they’re in the shit.

I can honestly see this season falling away badly

How much will it cost to get rid of Mourinho and his staff?

When every single team in the league bar Newcastle and WBA look more cohesive than us, then it's not a personnel issue.

I really warmed to Jose the man. The manager is another story. This season I think we have been largely poor - Kane and Son have papered over the cracks.

I have been baffled by the signings, selections, tactics, post match interviews.

It’s just not working out. Looks like the players have had enough. I don’t think there’s any chance he goes before the end of the season.

More than anything, it feels like an absolute chore watching us these days. If I could not watch it then I would, but like most, I can’t.

Get the German fella with the shit clobber in asap - or Rodgers - just something to make me look forward to watching Spurs again.

I am not worried about playing beautiful football, certainly not in the short term at least. I've backed Jose all the way this far because it's not been an easy time to take over and build a side both on and off the pitch. We don't have masses of money and training has been on and off with little as far as pre season preparation.

That said I have to stay consistent in what I expect as a minimum, and that is effort from the players. I like the rest of you loved peak Poch, but the team gave up on him. His constant need to change the philosophy that had brought us trophy less success as a team. We were competing at the top and going toe to toe with the money teams. Why he thought he had to reinvent the wheel is anyone's guess, but it failed and the players gave up.

Losing to Liverpool is acceptable, they are a good side and even on form that could have been the case. It's the manner in which we performed that disappoints. We lacked fight and desire, and that is just not ok. I saw exactly the same against Brighton, and whilst we had injuries his team selection for the second game running was baffling. Again no fight or willingness to compete for the ball.

He has 2 more games to turn that around for me, before I jump on the Jose out waggon.

I think we are lucky that despite our shit run we are somehow still in touch mainly because teams around us are slipping up as well.
I can't see us getting top four or six at this rate it's truly shocking that we can't beat the likes of Brighton or Fulham, everyone knows how to set up against us whereas we cannot adjust to it with the quality of players and coaches.
I have been behind Jose's appointment from the start, but after yesterday I'm not sure about him now.
The players are better than the levels they are playing at but lately not being able to pass to one another accurately or attack with any pace/guile.
I think this will end in disaster as it always does at Tottenham with the club in constant state of transition, it is not good enough and once fan's eventually get back in they won't stand for this shit, yet again the club are a laughing stock of the league.
