It’s not really the time for levy to be haggling over a couple of mill we need a striker in before the season starts with the amount of games in that short space of time

I'm pretty sure his whole career has been played in England, apart from a handful of games in Germany on loan. Signed with United as a youth.

He played a couple of years in Norwegian league before going to Man Utd. And he has played on every step in our national team since U15 ?

We shouldn’t just sign anyone no matter how desperate we are. He’s been looked at by us since 2017 though so maybe we’ve always held an interest, know the player well and think he’s the best option.

Sorry but you just do not rock up and pay the asking price - has to be some haggling.

We all know money is tight so every milllion saved here leaves more in kitty for other needs.

Levy has pulled off 2 good deals so far, both below price demanded, let him do what is best for club - sure he and Jose know exactly what they are doing and willing to pay.

Agreed, normally haggling doesn't work too well as there are other clubs out there able and willing to cough up the extra, but in the current climate haggling is definitely the right thing to do.

Agree, Jan window was the time for desperation ( and in all likelihood failure to get anyone in cost us top four).

There is still two months of the transfer window to go though and although it’s a signing we absolutely must make, I’d rather get the right player in, even if it’s a short term solution.

I don’t have a particularly strong opinion on King either way, but what concerns me is that we seem to have no transfer funds and will simply go for the cheapest option.

Yes there are some bargains out there, but there is only so much you can do by being “creative” and we’ve heard that old chestnut before ( even if it was under a different manager). At some point you just have to pay the going rate, particularly if we want to get back into that top four.

Definitely. No point getting the wrong guy in then we are looking at selling him in 2 years time because he’s been a flop. We’ve been there done that too many times to mention.

My concern with King is that I think his profile as a striker is too similar to Son, and Son is a better player. If Kane was out I'd probably just start Son at ST over King.

Hopefully I'm doing King a dis-service as he has been on our radar for some time now and by no means do I think hes a bad player.

Someone like Wood or Giroud would be that target man that can hold our shape when Kane is out. They would also be a good plan B if we came up against bus parkers with their aerial ability.

I used to be of the opinion that our money was best spent on a forward that can also play wide, but this was when talking about £40m+ players. At £10-20m we probably need a specialist target man.

Never really seen him as a ST. If plan would be to put him in if Kane is injured then may as well just put Dele there.
I’m all for bringing in a backup striker but he needs to actually be a good enough number 9 surely.

I don't get this Son and King comparison. They're not really alike at all.

King is a more powerful and willing worker than Son, someone who would work harder off the ball and run the channels.

I like the idea of Wood offering up a traditional number 9 role but I prefer King being able to slot in and combine more effectively in fluid attacking moves as opposed to a style change.

Both are good options, I just think King would be the best option for us overall.

King is naturally a forward. That is nothing to worry about. And he is nothing like Son even if he has got pace. He is very good at more traditional forward / target man play. He has been a rock in that role for Norway for years even when he has played as a wide player for Bournemouth.

For Norway he for quite a while was a one man attack. And exceptionally good at it as well.

I thought King was overrated for years, but got to give it to him for his last 3 years or so. Just a very good football player. One of very very few Norwegian players before this recent surge of talent that can actually play.

I’m assuming he’s homegrown? and if so it seems our prerequisite for ST is he has to be HG. Out of Wilson, Deeney, Wood and King he’s definitely the best technically.

He never played first team football for Vålerenga before he went to United. One of only a handful (I think it's five or six) of Norwegian internationals all-time to never play a single game in the Norwegian top flight.

I've always said I'd rather sign King than Wilson if we're going for a Bournemouth forward, I really rate him and he's a good all-round PL forward. He has a bit of bite to him, he can create and finish from both wide and central, and he takes a mean penalty which is always useful and especially in the games where he would replace Kane.

The only downside is that Jim Solbakken represents him and Jim Solbakken is a ****.
