i know its a dream... but u really never know. Chelsea is really really full of midfielders. something gotta give.

Chelsea are run by a ruthless man and managed by one of the most successful managers of recent history (like him or not). You don't become successful by having a soft spot. Mata, IF he is to be sold will be flogged abroad, well away from any club that could hurt Chelsea. Chelsea have no need for the money, they won't care, more important will be to ensure he doesn't strengthen a Premier League or Champions League rival.

Add to that that they likely won't ever sell a decent player to Spurs due to Modric and just the fans reaction to such a move.

Forget it, it is stupid to even think of signing Mata.

I'm 25 and in full control of my bodily functions but if we signed Mata then I'd piss myself. It would be worth it for the Chelsea fans reaction on its own!

Try as I might I just can't see it happening though :(

true.... highly unlikely...

but who know, 2nd Sept Mata realises he is way down in the pecking order, burst into the owners office demanding a move. We still haven't gotten our creative midfield player, and willing to pay top dollar for mata without bothering having too much discussion. Mata drives down for a quick medical and signs... all done in an hours...

Who knows... maybe the people at chelsea do have a heart and they feel bad over the whole willian deal.
(wheres the dam optimistic rating when u need it? lol!)

oh well... can't hurt to hope.

Even if Mata walked into Mourinho office, wang waving in the air, bent him over and gave him a "special one"; Chelsea would not sell Mata to us

But dont you guys see? Bale is the key to it all - Levy holds the key to unlocking the Universe, or Pandoras box if you like.

Bale to RM - Osil to Untied - Rooney to Chelsea - Mata to spurs - the circle is complete.

Quite possible right? :p

More likely outcome:

bale to madrid
rooney to chelsea
mata to united
di maria to arsenal
mackie to spurs

:notworthy:

of course this could be a smokescreen to divert attention away from our real targets.

We should just make a very public 30-35m bid, start talking about him in press confrences and just generally unsettle him and chelsea for the fun of it, see how they like it :)

We should get Avb to say that Jose isn't supporting him by making him second choice to De Bruyne.

Innit.

"I'd like to buy Mata."
"no.""I'd like to buy Mata."

Problem is, it won't unsettle him him as he has no footballing reason to want to join us.

well he won't want to be sitting on the bench in a world cup year, there's one reason.

With the amount of games Chelsea will be playing, I'm sure he'll be picked. Anyway, my point is he can go to Madrid, Barca, Utd, he's got no reason to absolutely want to go to us like with Bale and Real.

i don't think there's any place for him at the first two clubs. sure there would still be other clubs ahead of us but i'm not sure they'd all be willing to slap down £40m for him like i believe we would. if he's got oscar, hazard, de bruyne, schurrle and willian ahead of him then his game time will be limited, with us he'd be our star player, playing every week with a coach he gets on with and a pal up front ahead of him. it's still highly unlikely but i could see why it might appeal to him, especially with it being a world cup year. he's better than all of those players listed and i'm sure he believes that too so i can't see him being a happy bunny if he's gone from being an unequivocal 1st choice to a bit-part player.
