If the player himself wants to move is that enough? I know I'm dreaming but they can all too easily STOP him moving if they want to, despite his wishes. Can't they?

Juan Mata was considered one of the Premier League's brightest lights last season. His place in the Spain squad was secure.

This season, with Mourinho in charge, the situation is quite different.

Mata, so far, has been a peripheral player for Chelsea. And frankly if this continues then his place in the Spain squad will be in question. Being the season just before the World Cup, this latter point must be of vital concern to the player. Surely he wants to play in Brazil next summer?

What I find interesting in the coach's evident lack of confidence in the player is that nothing of note has been said about it by the player or his agent.

A player of Mata's class and ability should be a regular starter for his Club team. At this time he's not. And now Willian makes things even more difficult for game time at Chelsea.

If I was in Mata's shoes I'd be concerned. Very concerned. And I'd have to be asking myself what's my agent doing for me? From what I can see in the media, his agent is doing nothing.

A move to Tottenham Hotspur (or other top-notch side) would make sense at this time.

Will it happen? It looks unlikely.

We should just make a very public 30-35m bid, start talking about him in press confrences and just generally unsettle him and chelsea for the fun of it, see how they like it :)

We do this after Lamela....

lets put jm's whinging to the test-he said he would not be afraid to sell a player to a rival when trying to get rooney

then why would he not sanction a move for mata to us if he does not fancy him as a player?

“He [Mata] is very important for me and Chelsea. The stories that are coming out [about him leaving] are nonsense stories. He goes nowhere and he is very important for me.
“He had a very small pre-season after the Confederations Cup. During that pre-season he was injured. He started training two days before we played the first Premier League match. He played against Aston Villa and [against United] I decided to put him on the bench.
“I played with De Bruyne on the right to have complete control of Evra defensively. When Juan plays on the right he comes more inside. I don’t say he has more tactical discipline but he [De Bruyne] is more adapted to that situation. I wanted Oscar to play behind the striker so I decided not to play Juan.
“I put him in [on bench] for a situation where it was ‘Can we win?’. ‘Am I going to make another offensive change or no?’ In the 75th minute I was feeling, it was difficult to win. I didn’t want to lose so I made the changes just to control the last few minutes. No chance that Juan goes.”

@LaurensJulien: Guess who is in the director's box tonight at the Emirates? Juan Mata Senior who is obviously Juan Mata's dad. Interesting... #AFC #CFC

I would fucking love to see Mata playing for us but I don't see any way that it could happen unless Chelsea sold him to someone and we bought him on from them. Madrid, are you listening?

I am sure JM would not be fool enough to offload Mata, i am still baffled by the Willian buy and really dont understand how he is going to fit into that already crowded midfield. I think time will tell regarding Mata and JM but there will be no chance in hell of us getting him what ever his situation is. With AVB in charge we probably have more chance of getting a Arss player then someone from Chelsea.

There were rumours - don't know the source, might be balderdash - that he and his Dad were having a meeting with Jose today to discuss Juan's future at the club. Maybe his dad is making a point: tonight the Emirates, tomorrow he'll pop up at ours, Saturday at City and Manu/Pool on Sunday to complete the set!

I cannot see him signing for arsenal if am truly honest or us but i think if we matched arsenals bid we have AVB and they have CL again a Willian situation so he would choose goons but i can't personally see them selling him to either of us. If anyone can do it though Baldini can!!

Sadly I can see this one happening. Wenger will see Mata as ideal for them. Hate to say it but think he would chose then dicks over us
