Yes, apart from Gerard, Modric and Hakimi, what have the Romans done for us today?

and they are just some that we know about

who would he replace in Chelski's starting line ? he may want to play UCL but will he be happy on the bench, or just a squad member ?

He would be their best CB by some distance. Silva is about 52 now, and their other options are Christensen, Rudiger and Zouma.

They're crying out for a potentially world class CB, if anything it's a surprise they didn't enter the race for Kounde as soon as he was available.

Silva isn’t getting any younger and likely to only have 1 x season left in him before he retires.

They probably waited for us to set the price.

Exactly this, Silva probably has 1 season left with them. Rudiger and Christensen both on final year of contracts, Zouma has been offered around to a lot of clubs.

I think they might be in for another CB as well as Kounde...if they can't get renewals sorted with Rudiger and Christensen. Wouldn't be surprised if they went for Kouilibally as well.

Chelsea need a CB (maybe 2) and a ST from the looks of it and look like they are trying to get rid of Zouma, Emerson and Abraham to fund it. As well as a million loan players they probably have knocking around.

Quick question, is Kounde really world class?

Got into the team of the season last season, much like Reguilon did for Sevilla the year before. I think he has huge potential to become a great CB. I think the only question mark is his height and whether he will be able to cope in the PL. Think he will be fine though.

No expert but from the little I have seen he's a more than competent defender, who's good on the ball, and has great athleticism. He's short for a defender but he makes up for this with good reading of the game, and a great leap.
He's probably not what you'd consider world class atm (defenders need more time in the limelight due to the nature of the role) but the ingredients are there.

The fury of when he scores a header against us will be phenomenal

I keep seeing loads on his height but from what i see every week hardly any one can put a decent delivery in these days.
would much rather someone who was tactically aware and able to track runners

Its not the be all and end all, but being tall does have its advantages when a good ball is put in. It also allows for more error in judgement.

You look at that Chelsea team and the majority of the defensive players are under 6ft.

Jorginho, Kovacic, Kante, James, Chilwell. So yeah might be an area to exploit for teams when playing against them but the issue these days is finder a good crosser of the ball!

A season playing and training with Silva wouldn't do him any harm. I can't help wondering whether us selling Toby was a mistake for this reason - all of the CBs we're being linked with are young.

30-35 million euros + Zouma is an outstanding price wow.

Chelsea are ****s, but you have to admire how ruthless they are in the transfer market.
It's literally the same price Di Marzio reported about Spurs?
