As per Fab, Chelsea submitted a 110m bid for Lukaku. If thats true, surely they wont spend another 70m on Kounde... ?
Apparently preparing a new bid of 120-130m and 12m net per season wages according to Romano. Which is helping to put kanes price into perspective

Chelsea are going to chill and hope the player forces the move so they can get away with swapping players at massive overvaluations. Hope Sevilla holds strong and Fab can sell him on the Spurs dream, but I’d have to say it feels unlikely.

I'm not sure. I want an incoming player leaping onto a London bound plane eager to put pen to paper, pull on the Spurs shirt and get out there on the pitch showing the fans how much he loves being at the club. This guy somehow gives me images of a sulky child being dragged unwillingly towards an unliked relative for a hug.

I want this club to be the first choice for a player and not a subconscious 'second best' option otherwise Nuno will never get total commitment and effort which is absolutely vital to what he and Fabio are attempting to build.

Chavs already have £31.68M from sales this window (90% bulk of that from Tiomori to Milan) ...

They want to off load Tammy with figures banded £35-40M

Zouma publicly known again they happy for him to move on in play swap or in general (if they buy another CB) value circa £25-£30M

They have the potential to recoup around £100m potentially (potentially being the operative word here) , so they could potentially have a decent enough wad to spend technically they only need or seem to want one more assure CB and ST

That’s cool but we sold Joe Hart for £1m. Suck it, Chelsea.

I’m getting real Robinho to Man City feelings about this.

“Where’s the blue shirt? Where’s Suggs? What’s a Hotspur?”

I get what you're saying, but I always get the impression that once we've got players to the point where they visit the training ground and stadium, we're pretty good at persuading them that we're an attractive, exciting proposition.

It certainly seems as though foreign players in particular tend to like it at Spurs, so I wouldn't really be worried about attitude and effort if we were able to sign him - and let's be honest, we're not in a position to be able to turn down top tier players because they ideally favoured a move elsewhere.

So we just need to hope Paratici is able to kidnap Kounde, smuggle him into the country and only release him when he's in the centre circle at the new stadium and well on his way to falling in love with us.

But yeah, he'll likely still end up at Chelsea.

In reality, we won’t be at the very top of the wishlist for many top players.

There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just where we’re at. But we can’t delude ourselves by expecting bleeding heart loyalty from players who haven’t played for us yet.

Just as any of us would carefully weigh up a selection of job offers, were we fortunate enough to be in such a position, potential players will understandably do the same.

If we dismiss players because they have a preferred destination of Real Madrid/Barcelona or even the team who most recently won the champions league compared to a team that's fallen down the pecking order to the europa conference league then chances are the majority of the pool of players you'll be choosing from are members of this site who happen to be apart of a 5 aside league.

Acknowledge where we are in the football pyramid, acknowledge that our reputation as a promising destination has taken a dent in recent years and acknowledge that you should only judge a player by their professionalism once they signed on the dotted line.

Exactly! Ally Gold said Romero wanted Spurs as long as Barca or Madrid didn't come in for him - sometimes you need to know your place and catch a break.

agree..in all fairness there probably isnt a non British footballer in world football who wouldn’t have Barca or Real as their first choice

Hate getting my hopes up but I’m a massive fan of Kounde.

Also think on paper he’d be a perfect fit for Romero.
I know this topic has been touched upon in here before but for me the height of the pair is a concern. Tell me whatever you like about Cannavaro, 1.85m and 1.78m is small for a CB pairing and would 100% be targeted. Height is a high priority requirement for CBs for a reason.

Still a bit hard for me to figure out why Ndicka or Lacroix not a better fit with Romero and better use of funds.

I haven’t watched much of Romero, but I’ve seen quite a bit of Kounde and his anticipation is top notch and I’ve never thought to myself his ability to defend aerially was poor.

As a comparison I think there’s taller players, like our own Dier and Sanchez who I believe are quite poor aerially.
