I agree, much better movement than Crouchinho! And a better goal scorer given the opportunities.

It's like Lanh has infected the brains of everyone!!!

Wonder if he's got to Harry too? Expect Lee Young Pyo and Paul Stalteri to return in the summer if so!

For the record: I'm in the Pav Must Play camp too. This is when he came in to form last season, let's have it!

Yep, Pav is definitely the way forward.

As for the 'Crouch has created loads of goals for VDV' argument...if VDV, Bale, Modric, and Lennon can't create enough goals between them without relying on a hoofed ball from the back and a nod down from Crouch, then frankly they want stringing up!

When we have a fully fit team VDV will then make our system a 4-4-1-1 so there won't be room for Defoe but Pav is definitely worth a shot of playing.

I would go with this! Pav and Defoe upfront and bring crouchy on as an impact twig if it does'nt work out.

True enough really. Will we see VDV in central midfield? He's been dropping so deep of late because there's bugger all going on from the strikers up front that one would be very tempted to at least try him in a midfield 2 with Pav and JDiddy up front together...

we have played defoe recently, we have played crouch recently, and we havent exactly banged in the goals, Pav has to get a look in! doesn't get the playing time he needs.

With Modric out for a while we could even see VDV play a deeper role so we can adopt 2 strikers once more. I think Pav deserves a shot but if I was a betting man my money would be on Crouch/Defoe starting as we look to recreate the heights of Harry's Pompey days (a throw back to QPR mark II under good ole Gerry)

I think HR's only worry with VDV in a deeper CM role would be his discipline, and would Blackburn away be a game to test that out in, where they'd be sent out there to get amongst us and stop us playing? I doubt it.

Might work in home games though. He'd need a Palacios or a Sandro (I think he'll be very special for us) next to him for sure, and the instructions to them must be 'don't fucking move!', cos VDV will without a doubt play with gay abandon and surge forward at any opportunity, leaving us potentially exposed in the centre of the park.

Yup give the Pavster a run in the side, its about time and he can hardly do worse than the Crutch and Defoe. He has the ability to score goals like the one against chelsea and Crutch just doesnt have that in his locker, i know Crutch sometimes gets a knockdown for VDV but VDV has been very quiet of late.
Pav in for me if he can start putting em away it will be like signing a new striker.

Agree with OP.
But I'm worried that he wasn't included in the Newcastle squad because he was told he could go and this has destroyed his confidence.
Harry should show the faith in him that someone who has scored 5 times as much as our other strikers in the League deserves.
Yes he's not the all round finished article but I put him as better at his job description than Defoe & Crouch.

I'm one of his critics but agree Pav should get a run of games, either on his own or alongside Defoe. I mean our scoring rate from strikers cant really get too much worse so I think we have nothing to lose by giving Pav 5-10 starts and see what he can do.

Defoe's effort today left me wondering what it will take for Pav to get a game. I dont think he will ever get a run of games unless everyone else is injured.

My hope is that Harry is trying to piss pav off by leaving him on the bench, so when he is finally unleashed he'll go on a mad goalscoring spree like he did at the end of last season.
