I think we shouldn't whinge about the UEFA cup.

I hope we use exactly like we used it this year, give the squad/kids some valuable game time, mix in some first teamers when we need to win, get out the group, then try to actually win the thing. I'd rather win that than the FA or League Cups.

Who gives a fuck if we play Sunday, what else is there to do on a sunday anyway ?

With you on that BC. I'd much rather see us go all guns for the Europa League cup rather than the domestics next season.

It's a worthless cup, we'd be better of asking to withdraw so it doesn't hinder us in the league!

Sunday games, more teams from further away increasing the travel involved and no money in it at all.

Does anybody seriously want to see us play fuckin crap like Shamrock Rovers on a Thursday night again, we'll do well to get 20000 at the Lane for more shit like that.

I do. Until our wage budget increases this is our punching weight. Not the qualifying rounds, but the knockout rounds.

At the end of each season what do we have to hang our hats on? We don't have the budget to win the PL or CL.

You want to see us playing the likes of Shamrock Rovers on a Thursday night in a half empty stadium?

not to mention how it hurts us in the league as was highlighted by both Ferguson and Mancini.

Yes, seriously. We're no threat to win the league. We don't have the financial stamina to keep up. As for making the CL knockout rounds, of course I'm all for trying to get there, but that's all our current manager seems to value.

But is this what we're all getting our dicks hard for? To finish in 4th place and make a qualifying round in a tournament we realistically have no shot at winning? I know players nowadays seem to value CL qualification and in that respect we cannot simply ignore the value of finishing top 4. However, why is it that we can't take the other cups seriously?

Oh yeah, it's because of our wage budget, prolonged transfer dealings, and manager who only has eyes for a prize that's miles beyond his clubs grasp. We've been punching well above our financial weight and now with Modric and/or Bale edging closer to leaving, the expectations may have to be readjusted; until the stadium kicks in.

You mention Shamrocks. They're merely a qualifying round EL team. The knockout rounds is where we'll find other clubs like us, like it or not.

You say we have no chance of winning the Champions League.

We have a better XI than Chelsea, do we not? We finished comfortably above Chelsea in the league, did we not?

I'd rather win the FA Cup. It's a domestic comp soaked in history and I was gutted going out this year.

I won't say no to the Europa League but it's not the UEFA Cup I remember. Don't blame Harry or any other Prem manager for their attitude towards it. Blame UEFA for devaluing by sticking the top 4 teams into the 'Champions' Cup.

I don't understand the negativity towards the Europa League - yeah it's got a naff name, and is clearly overshadowed by the Champions League but isn't it worth a punt?

It's a competition and doesn't the winner get an automatic promotion to CL the following season?

30-40 years ago it was the most prized tournament in Europe. Someone on SC had a snipe at Athletic Bilboa being in the final as the benchmark for how easy the Europa League is but the fact is Bilboa are a good team with some class players - e.g. Llorente. Bilboa also beat Man Utd and Sporting Lisbon en route to the final.

I'm still disgruntled by the result last night - but it's plain and simple, Spurs lost the opportunity for a dead-cert CL place and now we need to man up at get on with what has been presented to us. We're not crumbling at the foundation like Liverpool, we haven't been relegated like Blackburn and we haven't lost the league to our "little blue neighbours" like Man Utd.

We finished 4th - something I did not expect at the start of the season. Even if we do lose Modric and Bale, you can be sure that Levy will squeeze the bidders for everything they have which will only benefit us under Financial Fair play and the squad through re-investment.

We're not a sinking ship, and yes it maybe a long and tedious summer of transfer rumours trying to dismantle our talented squad and more missed opportunities to sign new exciting players. As long as WHL is still standing and we have XI players on the pitch wearing the lilywhite - i'll still be watching Spurs even if it is against Shamrock Rovers again.

Apparently not as they have two Cups to choose from. We're left bitching on a web site.

No it's not worth a punt because it makes life in the league more difficult because of its stupid scheduling and there's no financila reward for this, plus it's full of shit teams!

Once upon a time the UEFA cup was a great competition, now its a total waste of time unless you are a shit club who have qualified for it, sort of like Newcastle or Shamrock Rovers.

Used to, not anymore. Infact the decision to change that made the cup itself alot less desirable
