The French defender is close to agreeing terms over a new long-term deal and his agent is due in London on Thursday for talks to extend the 26-year-old's stay at the club

Younes Kaboul is set to become the next Tottenham star to commit his future to the club by signing a long-term contract.33

England full-back Kyle Walker signed a contract until 2017 on Thursday as Spurs look to tie down their key players - and Kaboul could follow him within the next 48 hours.

Kaboul’s agent will land in London on Thursday to hold talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy over a new deal - believed to be for the next four years - for the France international.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a key member of the Tottenham team this season, making 30 Premier League appearances and becoming Harry Redknapp’s first choice central defender.

He has been in talks over a new contract since January and is close to agreeing terms in a deal that would keep him at White Hart Lane until he is 30.

Kaboul initially joined Spurs from Auxerre in 2007 for £8 million but was signed by Harry Redknapp for Portsmouth after struggling to settle at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp re-signed Kaboul in January 2009 and the central defender - who can also play at right-back or defensive midfield - has cemented his role at the heart of the back four.

took him awhile to mature defensively, and he still has some kinks in his armor, but he's the closest to how ledley used to be in the squad. Strong, Fast, Commanding and comfortable on the ball, doesnt have Ledley's supernatural quality but Having a very strong season

Will be just as chuffed with this as the walker deal. He is very important to the squad. Will be massive for us over the coming years. Will be good to have him alongside caulker next season. The two can make a pretty good partnership hopefully for years to come

He is the leader of that defence and I hope him and Vertonghen or even Caulker will be the bedrock of our success for years to come!

Should arguably be starting every game for France as well.

I sincerely hope he manages to play a part in our season next year and wouldn't be surprised if he is higher up in the pecking order than some may initially think.

The man deserves to start for France at the Euros; Abidal is unavailable due to unfortunate circumstances. Kaboul has been a rock for us barring a couple of under par performances when the whole of our team was struggling. He should be at the centre of our plans for years to come.

I remember a few members on here saying he was one for the future and was a bit upset that we sold him to Portsmouth

Good call to those guys
