one of the biggest problems is every club is after strikers at the moment! Utd need one, city would go in for one, Arsenal are rumoured to be looking for one as only have Giroud at mo, Chelsea only have Costa. There's a lack of quality out there and teams wanting strikers. Strikers are at a premium and the only two options i can see is Berahino or Austin. I still believe though Son will be Kanes back up. He's been poor on the wings when he's come on in recent games and can see him staying on the bench. If he stays on the bench he will be Kanes back up.

With teams playing one up front mostly there is less chance for talent to come through .I think the smart money has to be on us not getting anyone in this window in the striker postion.I think we would have Austin today if we wanted him.

Being realistic here, we aren't going to sign someone to start ahead of Kane or someone who is overly happy to sit on the bench, so this would be my "list" as we need someone with PL experience.

Austin
Naismith
Crouch
Bamford

The most important issue is that we have for Kane. If that person can push and compete with Kane all the better, and even offer a slightly different style would be an added bonus. But cover is the primary objective.

Signing someone who's use to English football is a must IMO - so they can step in and make a quick adjustment. I know there are no guarantees but someone who's played here is infinitely more likely to hit the ground running than a foreign signing.

And if the unthinkable happens and Harry is out for several weeks we'll need someone to be ready to make an instant impact otherwise we'll suffer too much.

I didn't know where else to pose this question and it's purely a hypothetical, but with Van Gaal apparently telling Rooney he can leave, if the wages could be figured out would anyone take him?

Straight away you think no he's shot. But I see what you mean . Holds the ball up great, can score goals, a wealth of experience to a young squad, English and would be OK a bit part player. Can play a few positions too.
If we had him as back up we would certainly be stronger. He would prob be regegnited by the youth. But for a host of reasons can never ever
Happen on this window!

I'm sure it's been asked already, but with the way our yoof development has been lately, do we seriously not have another big strong CF type who is ready to try? (and no, I don't follow the youth thread closely).

Well I think Poch is pretty keen for Prem experience

He may well be but he'll also be aware it's next to impossible to buy from Prem clubs because they have so much money. Hence the signings of Njie, Son etc.

No. Loft and Harrison are 2 years away. Coulthirst in not PL quality.

Gone are the days when we had big lads waiting in the wings itching to start with the first team like Mark Falco and Kerry Dixon.

Can't expect someone to come in Jan then and start banging in the goals straight away then
