It's official. I know there's the thread in Transfer Rumours, but that's to be closed now.

Here are his quotes on LA Galaxy's official site:

Robbie Keane said:
“I am delighted, honored and very excited to be joining the LA Galaxy,” Keane said. “I have always wanted to come and play in MLS so it’s the perfect combination for me and a dream come true. My family and I have already been made to feel very welcome in telephone calls from Tim Leiweke and Bruce Arena. Also when David Beckham came and trained at Spurs recently he couldn't speak highly enough about the Galaxy, their fans and the league in general, so I can’t wait to get over and get started.”

For anyone thinking I'm joking: http://www.lagalaxy.com/news/2011/08/la-galaxy-agree-terms-ireland-international-robbie-keane

Good luck Robbie.

People have picked up MRBEN, mostly in the Transfer Rumours section and in the Keane Appreciation Thread.

Conflicting reports as regards the fee. Sky text says over £5m, whereas on Twitter the figure going around is between £2m-£3.5m

According to ITK earlier today it's £2.2m

Will remember him for his brilliant first spell, his second was a disaster for all concerned.

My favourite robbie keane goal was the first I saw him score for spurs, when he snuck up behind the brum keeper and tapped the ball into an empty net.

Well that rules out £2.2million.

Seeing as they were 'competing' with Leicester (and any other lower Prem club at that price) I would have guessed the figure was more likely to be closer to the £3.5m to £5m mark.

As much as i love Robbie, im pretty glad he's finally left. He has been rubbish for us recently.

Good luck to him in America though, great professional :)

I'm in the USA at the moment watching the City/Swansea game. They just creamed themselves over Keano saying he's still Sharp etc..

Good luck to him, he'll score goals there but I don't think he could cut it in Europe.

USA is becoming the graveyard for dinosaur players overseas. Sort of like an on tour old folks home.

I hope he kicks ass over in America. One of the best strikers to watch when he was on his game.

Am I the only one who was surprised that the news update about this on the OS didn't open with "The club are delighted to announce...?"

There's a higher standard of football on school playgrounds in England than in Major League Soccer so Keane will be a super star. I hope MLS improves and I'm sure it will, but they won't even be able to attract the likes of Danny Gabidon or Wayne Routledge for a long long time.

I agree for the most part. A lot of their players come over to Europe and can never make it. I remember Josh Wolf was one good example. He was very good in MLS, scoring over 60 goals with 2 teams, then he goes to Germany, to the 2 Bundesliga with 1860 Munich, and in a full season of playing striker/winger he only manages 2 goals and promptly goes back to America.

Same story with a lot of American exports. IF they are lucky, they make it as a solid starter in a lower division team, but most go back home right away. Players like Clint Dempsey are the exception to the overall rule.
