Bill Nic was the first manager to win a european cup with a english team and he didnt even get a minutes silence nationally. If there ever was a case for a underserved knighthood it would be this

I may start a rival petition to stop Dalglish getting knighted, as he basically attempted to justify racism from Suarez, and that is not someone kids should be looking up to imo

I have no problem with Kenny Dalglish getting a knighthood. His contribution to football and the community in Liverpool and Scotland (and Newcastle and Blackburn to be fair) is extensive and far exceeds the typical touchline managers. Not one of my favourite football people, personally (I rip the piss out of my colleague on the radio who still calls him "King Kenny"), but worthy of respect for an outstanding career.

However, it's all pointless as the honours system provides ample opportunity to recognise everyone in every walk of life. If they feel Dalglish is a suitable candidate they will make sure he gets his knighthood. So, thanks Toto for sharing, but I wouldn't sign.

If memory serves me correctly he pretty much dismantled Keegan's Newcastle squad and left them in a rather fucked up state.

I just have a more broad definition of "contribution" than you, that's all. ;)

Nail on head.

(Sir) Bill won the 'impossible' double for the first time since the previous century, AND was the first british manager to win a trophy in Europe and got a CBE (I think). Matt Busby wins the European Cup (a year after Jock Stein did it with Celtic) and gets a knighthood.

Absolutely fucking ludicrous.
